Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across St. Louis County

St. Louis County, MO

We cover Mehlville and the surrounding South County communities — The Meadows at Forder Oaks with its 1.5-story homes and oak staircases, Karington Place where wider floor plans often accept straight rails, Ridgeview Hills near the bluffs with split-level layouts, Southwood Estates off Telegraph Road, Point Breeze along the older corridor near Lemay Ferry, and the homes ringing Jefferson Barracks Park where many veterans use the VA Medical Center on the same campus. We also install regularly in neighboring Oakville, Concord, Lemay, and Affton — same housing era, same stair geometry, same 3-hour installs on straight runs.

Straight

Straight Rail on Oak Treads in a 1970s Split-Level

Point Breeze, MO Installed February 2026

Classic Mehlville split-level off Telegraph Road. Fourteen oak treads, 34-inch width, dark stain original to the 1972 build. The homeowners — a retired couple in their late 70s — needed the wife to reach the upstairs bedroom after a hip replacement. Luis bolted a beige straight rail directly to the treads in just over three hours. The seat parks at the bottom landing next to a built-in bookcase.

Curved Rail at Upper Landing in a Two-Story Forder Oaks Home

The Meadows at Forder Oaks, MO Installed March 2026

This 1.5-story home near Forder Oaks Court has an elegant curved staircase with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. Chandelier overhead, painted risers, oak handrail. The homeowners needed a lift for the father, who has Parkinson's. Luis spent about an hour with the laser measurement rig, capturing the radius of the turn and the rise of every step.

Compact Straight Rail Near Antique Sideboard on Tile Treads

Karington Place, MO Installed January 2026

A smaller ranch home in Karington Place — about 1,400 square feet, built in 1978. The staircase runs along the living room wall with stone-look tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the bottom. Tight clearance between the bottom newel post and the sideboard — only 28 inches. Luis mounted a brown straight rail with the seat folding up to clear the walking path.

Outdoor

Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift on Stone Porch Entry

Ridgeview Hills, MO Installed April 2026

A brick ranch in Ridgeview Hills with five stone-paved steps leading from the driveway to the front door. Missouri winters freeze those stones solid, and the homeowner — an 82-year-old widow — had stopped using the front entrance altogether, going through the garage instead. Luis installed a cream-colored outdoor lift with IP55 weather sealing. The rail is powder-coated aluminum; the seat cover is UV-stabilized vinyl.

Brown Seat Blending with Beige Carpet in a Southwood Estates Ranch

Southwood Estates, MO Installed March 2026

This 1983 ranch in Southwood Estates has wall-to-wall beige carpet on the main staircase — 13 steps, standard 36-inch width, with a tiled floor at the base. The homeowners chose a brown upholstered seat that nearly matches the carpet tone. Luis bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the plywood treads, leaving no visible damage to the carpet pile. The charge point is at the bottom, tucked behind a console table.

Platform Lift

Indoor Inclined Platform Lift for Wheelchair User Near Jefferson Barracks

Jefferson Barracks area, MO Installed May 2026

The Davises live in a two-story home just east of Jefferson Barracks Park. Their son uses a wheelchair full-time and couldn't reach the upper floor where the bedrooms are. Luis installed an indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck with yellow safety-edge sensors, white handrail, and a 600-pound capacity. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, leaving the staircase passable.

Common Questions

Everything Mehlville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Mehlville?

Straight-rail lifts start at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your stair geometry after a laser measurement. Outdoor models start at $4,000, and heavy-duty units (600 lb capacity) at $5,050. Financing runs $79/month. These are the real prices — not an estimate range. The price you're quoted at the assessment is the price you pay.

Are there extra fees for installation in Mehlville?

No. Installation, the assessment visit, and the first year of service calls are all included in the price. St. Louis County doesn't require a separate permit for a stairlift — it mounts to the treads, not the structure, so there's no building-code trigger. The only variable is if we hit unusual subflooring in a pre-1960s home, but those are rare in Mehlville — most houses went up from 1965 onward.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in South County homes?

The rail. A straight rail is a stock aluminum extrusion — cut to length and installed. A curved rail is custom-fabricated. Luis comes out with a laser measurement rig and maps every turn, rise, and landing. That scan goes to the fabrication shop, the rail is bent and welded to that exact geometry, and two weeks later we install it. The labor is about the same (3-5 hours), but the rail itself drives the cost.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Missouri?

Medicare Parts A and B do not cover stairlifts — they classify them as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. Missouri Medicaid (MO HealthNet), through the Aged and Disabled Waiver for residents 63+, can cover home modifications including stairlifts, but there's a waitlist and you need a nursing-facility level-of-care assessment. We walk you through the referral to the Mid-East Area Agency on Aging, which handles St. Louis County waiver applications.

A word from Luis

I've put lifts into probably 200 homes across South County — Mehlville, Oakville, Lemay, the whole corridor along Telegraph and Lemay Ferry. The housing stock here is pretty consistent: ranch homes and split-levels from the '60s and '70s, a lot of them with original oak treads and narrow stairwells around 32 to 36 inches wide. That's actually a good width for a straight rail — we can bolt it to the treads and be out in three hours.

The neighborhoods around Jefferson Barracks, especially Karington Place and The Meadows at Forder Oaks, tend to have wider staircases and sometimes curved landings. Those take a laser measurement on site and about two weeks for the rail to come back from fabrication. Either way, I know these floor plans cold — I can usually tell you what'll fit before I even pull into the driveway.

— Luis Ramírez, Mehlville
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Mehlville sits right where I-55 and I-255 meet, about 15 minutes south of downtown St. Louis along the Mississippi. The VA Medical Center at Jefferson Barracks — one of the busiest in the region — is literally inside Mehlville's boundaries on Jefferson Barracks Drive. For the roughly 1,700 veterans in this CDP, that means the HISA grant application can start with a visit to their primary care provider right up the road.

Most of the homes here were built between 1965 and 1985, and the stair geometry is predictable — which means pricing is predictable too. Straight rail from $2,800, curved from $9,000 after the laser measurement. We handle the permit paperwork with St. Louis County, bolt the rail to the treads (not the wall), and wrap up in half a day. If your mom can't get to the upstairs bathroom anymore, call Luis at the number above — he'll come out, measure, and give you a real number, not an estimate range.
