The workhorse of the Rogue Valley — from West Medford bungalows to East Medford two-stories.

Over 60% of the stairlifts we install in the Medford area are this model. Most straight-rail installs in Medford, Central Point, and White City wrap in under four hours.

Jackson County, OR

From the 1940s craftsman bungalows of West Medford — the older core between Jackson Street and the railroad, where the housing stock runs to small-lot bungalows, cottages, and early postwar ranches with narrow interior stairs — to the 1960s and 1970s split-level ranches along Bear Creek that run south from the city through Phoenix and Talent, to the newer subdivisions of East Medford off Biddle Road and Crater Lake Highway where 1990s and 2000s two-story homes are the norm, our team has measured staircases in every part of the city.

We know which North Medford neighborhoods near the Rogue Valley Country Club have the wide center-hall stairs that take a straight rail in three hours, which West Medford bungalows have the narrow treads that require the slim-profile seat, and which Bear Creek ranch split-levels have the 90° landing turn that only a curved rail can handle. We also staff coverage for Central Point, White City, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, Phoenix, and Talent — all within 15 miles of downtown Medford — so you never wait on a tech driving down from the Portland metro.

1972 Bear Creek split-level — curved rail through a 90° mid-landing

Bear Creek (South Medford), OR Installed March 2026

A 1972 split-level ranch along Bear Creek — the single most common staircase we measure in the Rogue Valley. Six steps from the foyer to the main living level, a mid-landing with a 90° turn, then eight more steps to the bedrooms. Mr. Gustafson had been sleeping in the den since his knee replacement at Asante Rogue Regional three months earlier. We laser-scanned the staircase on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that runs the full length in a single continuous track, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. He slept in his own bed that night for the first time in 90 days. The heat-rated battery has already run through a full August where the stair cavity hit 135°F.

1946 West Medford bungalow — straight rail on narrow postwar treads

West Medford, OR Installed February 2026

A 1946 bungalow on a small lot between Jackson Street and the railroad — the older core of West Medford where the housing stock runs to small homes built for returning GIs. Narrow treads, a tight turn at the top into the hallway, and a homeowner who needed the slim-profile seat to keep enough stair width for her grandson to walk past. We bolted the straight rail into the existing treads, installed the 17-inch compact seat, and added a folding footrest so the stairs remain passable when the lift is parked at the top. Mrs. Phelps, 84, uses it four times a day. Her only comment: "Why did I wait two years?"

East Medford two-story — wide stairs, four-hour install

East Medford, OR Installed January 2026

A 1998 two-story off Biddle Road in one of the East Medford subdivisions built during the housing boom — wide stairs, level treads, modern construction. Mr. Nguyen's mother had moved in from Sacramento after his father passed, and the upstairs guest bedroom was the only private space in the house. She speaks Vietnamese at home, so we brought in a phone interpreter for the walkthrough at our cost. Straight rail, standard seat, folding footrest, four hours start to finish. Mrs. Nguyen rides it twice a day and the grandchildren treat it like furniture.

Jacksonville hillside home — outdoor rail from driveway to front porch

Jacksonville, OR Installed December 2025

A hillside home on a wooded lot outside Jacksonville — 14 exterior steps from the gravel driveway up to the front porch, shaded by Douglas fir and madrone. Col. Engstrom is a retired Army officer receiving care at the White City VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, the prescription came from his SORCC provider within four weeks, and installation was authorized the week after. The rail is sealed against Rogue Valley humidity, UV-coated for the long summer sun, and the heat-rated battery handles the 100°F+ days that bake the exposed south-facing stair run. It has also run through a full smoke season without a service call.

Rogue Valley Manor resident — 600 lb capacity after bilateral knee surgery

North Medford (Rogue Valley Manor area), OR Installed November 2025

A standalone cottage at the edge of the Rogue Valley Manor campus where Mr. Caldwell, 79, needed the heavy-duty frame after bilateral knee replacements at Asante. His surgeon's discharge orders specified no full weight-bearing on stairs for eight weeks, and at 290 lbs he needed the wider seat and reinforced rail. We installed the 600 lb capacity model with the 22-inch padded seat, coordinated the reasonable-accommodation letter with the community's management office, and had him riding from the main floor to the loft bedroom on discharge day. His physical therapist signed off on the install the following week.

Central Point ranch split-level — K Plan funded curved rail

Central Point, OR Installed October 2025

A 1968 ranch split-level in Central Point with the same staircase geometry we see in a hundred homes across the valley floor — foyer to living area, 90° turn at the landing, then up to the bedrooms. Mrs. Swanson qualified for the Oregon K Plan through the Rogue Valley Council of Governments AAA, and because K Plan has no fixed stairlift cap, the full curved-rail install was covered based on medical necessity. We handled the prior-authorization paperwork with her DHS Case Manager, fabricated the curved rail, and installed in a single afternoon. She paid nothing out of pocket. Her daughter drove up from Ashland for the install and cried when her mother rode up to the bedroom for the first time in four months.

Common Questions

Everything Medford Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in the Medford area right now?

Straight rails in standard Rogue Valley homes — a West Medford bungalow, a Bear Creek ranch, a two-story in the East Medford subdivisions — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1960s-1970s split-level ranches along Bear Creek, in Central Point, and in Eagle Point where the mid-landing turn makes a straight rail impossible, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor rails for raised porches and garage-to-kitchen entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup rated for Rogue Valley summer heat, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Medford than in Grants Pass or Ashland?

Equipment prices are the same across Jackson and Josephine counties — we don't inflate quotes for Ashland addresses or discount for White City. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: the occasional older West Medford bungalow that needs an electrical permit for a new dedicated circuit, and longer-than-standard outdoor runs on hillside lots above the valley floor in Jacksonville or the foothills toward Upper Table Rock. We list the line items upfront. No surprise add-ons.

Does the quote include the heat-rated battery?

Yes. Every Rogue Valley install ships with a heat-tested battery rated for the 130-140°F temperatures that build up in unconditioned garages and attic-adjacent stair cavities during July and August. Off-the-shelf lithium packs from national chains fail in two to three Medford summers — ours are baseline, not an upcharge. The same battery handles the occasional winter cold snap when lows drop into the teens.

Any hidden fees for 55+ community installs at Rogue Valley Manor or Barnett Woods?

Our quote includes the HOA or community paperwork we handle for you. We've worked with Rogue Valley Manor, Barnett Woods, Meadowbrook Estates, and several 55+ communities across Central Point and White City. Under Oregon's Fair Housing Act (ORS 659A.421) and the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act, associations must permit reasonable accessibility accommodations. The reasonable-accommodation letters are already templated. If a board requires its own engineer's review, we tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most Rogue Valley families call me after a near-miss on the stairs — a parent who slipped on the narrow treads of a 1940s West Medford bungalow, a retired couple in a 1970s Bear Creek ranch who haven't been upstairs in months after a hip replacement at Asante, a daughter in Portland worried about her father living alone in a Central Point split-level he built himself in 1968.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a written price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. The phone number on this page rings a real person in Southern Oregon, not a call center in another state.
