Stairlift Service Across Norfolk County

Norfolk County, MA

In the Town Center Historic District along Main Street, 18th-century colonials have narrow staircases where a slim-profile straight rail makes the difference between staying and moving. Over on Elm Street and Harding Street, mid-century Capes and split-levels often have standard-width stairs but short landings — curved lifts handle the tight turns here. South Medfield near the Dover line has larger colonials on wooded lots; staircase width isn't usually the issue, but the length of the run means battery backup matters for those longer rails. Farm Street Station has younger homes, mostly 1980s and later, where installs go quickly — wide treads, open landings.

1750s Colonial on Main Street — Straight Rail on Historic Oak Treads

Town Center Historic District, MA Installed March 2026

The Harringtons' 1750s colonial on Main Street still has its original oak treads — narrow, worn smooth, barely 31 inches wide between the plaster wall and the banister. Luis mounted a slim-profile straight rail directly to the oak treads with five lag bolts per bracket, preserving the original woodwork. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing beside a period side table. Mrs. Harrington was riding it within 20 minutes of the final test.

Farm Street Station Colonial — 90° Curved Rail at Upper Landing

Farm Street Station, MA Installed April 2026

The Delgados' 1990s colonial off Farm Street has wide oak treads and a generous upper landing, but the staircase takes a hard 90° turn halfway up. After a 1-hour laser measurement, the custom curved rail was bent to fit and installed three weeks later. The brown seat rides smoothly around the turn and parks at the upper hallway, beneath the chandelier in the two-story foyer. Curved rails like this start at $9,000.

Cape-Style Home near Pound Street — Stone Treads, Compact Install

Pound Street Area, MA Installed February 2026

The Murrays' 1950s Cape near Pound Street has stone tile treads and a tight bottom landing, with a wooden sideboard just 18 inches from the bottom step. Luis installed a straight rail that stops short of the sideboard, the seat folding up to leave clearance. The brown seat sits at the foot of the stone stairs, blending with the earth-toned tile.

West Medfield Porch Entry — Weather-Sealed Outdoor Lift on Stone Pavers

West Medfield, MA Installed October 2025

The Callahans' West Medfield home near the Charles River has a stone-paved porch entry — five steps up, treacherous in winter. Mr. Callahan, 78, slipped on the stone last January and broke his wrist. Luis installed an outdoor-rated straight rail with a cream weather-sealed seat, brackets set into the stone treads with stainless hardware.

Harding Street Garrison Colonial — Carpeted Stairs, Quick Morning Install

Harding Street Area, MA Installed January 2026

The Nichols' 1970s garrison colonial on a Harding Street side road has wall-to-wall beige carpet running up to the bedroom level. Mrs. Nichols, recovering from knee replacement, couldn't manage the 13 steps. Luis mounted a straight rail through the carpet into the treads — the fibers close back around the brackets, no damage. The brown seat matches the carpet tones and folds up to clear the stairs. Done in under three hours.

Noon Hill Ranch — Indoor Wheelchair Platform Lift for Full-Time Access

Noon Hill, MA Installed February 2026

The Santoros' ranch near Noon Hill Reservation has a 12-step staircase that left the lower-level living space off-limits to their son, who uses a wheelchair. Luis fitted an indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail down the full length. The platform folds against the wall when idle, keeping the stairs clear.

Common Questions

Everything Medfield Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a straight stairlift cost in Medfield?

A straight stairlift in Medfield starts at $2,800 installed. That covers the rail, the seat, and about 3 hours of labor. Most straight installs in Town Center colonials and Harding Street Capes fall between $2,800 and $4,200 depending on rail length. The final number depends on exactly what we see at the in-home measurement — longer runs, power outlets that need to be added, or any turns that push it into curved territory.

What does a curved stairlift cost for a Medfield home?

Curved stairlifts in Medfield start at $9,000. The rail is bent to your exact stair geometry after a 1-hour laser measurement on site. Medfield homes with 90° landings — common in Farm Street Station colonials and some split-levels off Elm Street — typically run $9,000 to $12,000. Stairs with two turns or an intermediate landing push toward $14,000. You get a firm price after the measurement, not an estimate.

Are there financing options for stairlift installation in Medfield?

Yes — financing starts at $79 a month. We offer 0% interest plans through a third-party lender. For Medfield homeowners with strong credit, 12-month and 24-month terms are available. There's no prepayment penalty. Separately, the Massachusetts Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) provides 0% interest loans up to $50,000 for accessibility modifications, including stairlifts, for eligible households.

Why do stairlift prices vary so much across Medfield homes?

The biggest variable is whether your staircase is straight or curved. A straight rail is factory-cut; a curved rail is bent to order from your laser measurements. In Medfield, the age of the home drives a lot of the variation — 18th-century colonials on Main Street may have irregular rise heights that require custom brackets, while a 1980s colonial near Farm Street Station installs in under three hours with stock components. Outdoor installs cost more because of weather-sealed motors and reinforced rail.

A word from Luis

I've put stairlifts into Medfield colonials from the 1720s and garrison colonials from the 1970s — the older the house, the more creative you have to get with the rail layout. Over on Main Street in the Town Center Historic District, the treads are often 9 inches wide and the turns are tight. That's why we come out and measure every staircase in person. No two are the same. Over by Farm Street Station, where the newer colonials sit on bigger lots, it's usually a different story — wider treads, standard rise, three hours from truck to test ride. But out in West Medfield near the Charles River, the older Capes with 32-inch staircases need a rail that hugs the wall. I grew up working on old New England houses, so none of this surprises me anymore. What matters is that by the end of the morning, your mom or dad can get upstairs without help.

The outdoor installs around here need extra attention. Medfield winters bring freeze-thaw cycles that work on concrete and stone year after year. We use powder-coated aluminum rail and weather-sealed motors on every porch and entry install — Rocky Woods area, Noon Hill, doesn't matter. If the lift is going outside, it's got to handle January ice and July humidity equally well.

— Luis Ramírez, Medfield
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Medfield is the kind of town people don't want to leave — one of the oldest settlements in Massachusetts, with homes that have been in families for generations. But those 18th-century colonials on Main Street and the mid-century Capes over on Harding weren't built with stairlifts in mind. We bridge that gap. In one morning, the staircase that was keeping you or your parent downstairs becomes usable again.
