Stairlift Service Across Presidio County

Presidio County, TX

We cover all of Marfa and Presidio County. In the Central Marfa Historic District along Highland Avenue, 1880s to 1940s adobes have narrow original-wood treads that often call for a custom curved rail. The Buena Vista Addition mixes 1920s adobes with mid-century ranches, many split-level, where a straight rail bolts cleanly to the treads. East Heights and Brite Acres are postwar pier-and-beam homes that are ideal for bolt-to-tread mounting. Around the Fort D.A. Russell area, converted officer housing has wide porches that suit outdoor lifts. We also serve West San Antonio Street and rural properties along US 67 and US 90 toward Alpine, Fort Davis, and Presidio, all with no travel fee.

Straight

Central Marfa — straight rail on original longleaf-pine treads

Central Marfa Historic District, TX Installed March 2026

A 1910 adobe on Highland Avenue with original longleaf-pine treads worn smooth by a century of use. Mrs. Delgado had stopped using the upstairs bathroom, so we bolted the straight rail to the treads with zero contact to the adobe walls and parked the beige seat at the bottom landing. The wood tones matched the staircase, and the install was done in three hours.

Buena Vista — curved rail at the upper landing

Buena Vista Addition, TX Installed February 2026

A 1928 adobe with a staircase that turns 90 degrees at the upper landing around a half-wall beneath a chandelier, where a straight rail was not an option. After a one-hour laser measurement, the custom curved rail was fabricated and installed in a single day. The brown seat parks at the top floor out of the walkway, and the rail hugs the wall through the turn without blocking the landing.

East Heights — Saltillo-tile treads in a 1962 ranch

East Heights, TX Installed April 2026

A 1962 ranch home with Saltillo-tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs. The Petersons wanted the brown seat to blend with the existing furniture, so we mounted the rail brackets into the tile with masonry anchors and capped each one with a trim plate matching the wrought-iron stair rail. The seat tucks neatly beside the sideboard, leaving the downstairs hallway open.

Outdoor

Fort D.A. Russell — outdoor lift on a stone-paved porch

Fort D.A. Russell area, TX Installed November 2025

A converted officer-quarters home with a wide stone-paved porch and six exterior steps to the front door. Mr. Crawford could no longer manage them after knee surgery, so we installed a weather-sealed cream outdoor lift with stainless-steel hardware, leveled on the uneven stone with composite shims. After a full high-desert winter of freezing nights, dust, and one ice storm, the lift runs without a hitch.

Brite Acres — carpeted stairs, matched tones

Brite Acres, TX Installed January 2026

A 1990s home with wall-to-wall beige carpet running up a straight staircase to the second floor. The brown seat fabric matched the carpet tone almost exactly. We trimmed a small section of carpet under each bracket so the bolts anchored directly into the plywood sub-tread, then the rail covered the trimmed spots completely. Mrs. Connelly was using the lift within an hour of the final torque check.

Platform Lift

West San Antonio Street — indoor wheelchair platform

West San Antonio Street, TX Installed May 2026

A 1950s home with an interior staircase between the main level and the bedroom wing. Mr. Reyes uses a wheelchair full-time and had been relying on his son to get between levels. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges that runs along the wall. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use, leaving the stairway clear for the rest of the family.

Common Questions

Everything Marfa Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Marfa?

A straight stairlift in Marfa starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because each rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor units start at $4,000, weather-sealed for the high desert. Heavy-duty models rated to 600 pounds start at $5,050. Every quote includes the rail, the carriage, the battery backup, and installation, with no travel surcharge anywhere in Presidio County.

Are there extra charges for rural delivery or installation around Marfa?

No. We do not charge a travel fee anywhere in Presidio County, whether you are in downtown Marfa, out on US 67 toward Presidio, or off US 90 east toward Alpine. The price quoted at the assessment is the price you pay. The only variable is rail length on curved installs, which depends on how many turns your staircase has.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more in Marfa's older homes?

Marfa's pre-1940 adobe and Victorian homes often have staircases that turn at irregular angles rather than standard 90-degree landings. The curved rail needs a one-hour laser measurement on site, then it is fabricated to match those exact angles. The custom fabrication and extra labor account for the higher cost, but once it is in, the rail fits your stairs perfectly and the carriage moves through the turns without slowing down.

Is financing available for a stairlift in Marfa?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 a month through a third-party lender, with terms from 12 to 60 months, and most Marfa families qualify. You can apply at the free assessment. There is no prepayment penalty, so you can pay the balance off early at any time with no added cost.

A word from Luis

Marfa isn't like anywhere else in Texas. Half the homes here are adobe, and most of the pre-1940 ones have staircases built for 1880s proportions. I've put curved rails into bungalows off Highland Avenue where the turn at the landing was so tight we had to laser-measure twice. The thick adobe walls actually work in our favor, because we bolt into the treads, not the wall.

What I tell every family at the free assessment is simple: the install never alters the building. On a straight staircase in a Buena Vista ranch I am usually done in about three hours. On a curved adobe staircase downtown I do a one-hour laser measurement first, then the rail comes back from fabrication bent to your exact angles. Out here in the high desert I also seal every outdoor unit against dust and the wide swing between freezing nights and hot afternoons.

Luis Ramírez, Marfa
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Marfa sits at about 4,685 feet in the high desert between the Davis Mountains and Big Bend country. The town was built as a railroad water stop in the 1880s, and those original adobe and Victorian homes still line Highland Avenue today. When a staircase in one of those historic homes becomes the barrier between someone and their own bedroom, a straight or curved lift bolted to the treads, not the adobe, solves it without touching the walls.

Call or fill out the form for a free in-home assessment. Luis comes to your door, measures your stairs, checks the landing dimensions, and leaves a firm quote the same day. No travel charge to Marfa or anywhere in Presidio County, and most installs start within the same week.
