Stairlift Service Across Ramsey County

Ramsey County, MN

Little Canada's residential neighborhoods spread across four square miles between Rice Street and the chain of lakes. Around Gervais Lake, lakefront ramblers and newer 2-story homes need straight or curved rails, plus outdoor units on lake-facing porches. The Twin Lake area off Twin Lake Boulevard mixes 1960s split-levels with newer construction. Along the Lake Vadnais border at the north edge of town, established homes back the regional trail system. The Rice Street corridor running north-south carries the city's older 1950s rambler stock — narrow treads, tight stairwells. The Labore Road area east of I-35E holds 1970s-90s townhomes including the Montreal Courts complex. The Vianney area near St John the Evangelist on Little Canada Road East has the original French-Canadian-settler housing fabric.

1956 Rambler Gets a Straight Lift on Twin Lake Boulevard

Twin Lake area, MN Installed March 2026

1956 rambler off Twin Lake Boulevard with original oak treads — narrow by modern code at 34 inches, but perfectly straight. Luis brought the slim-rail option to keep the walkway clear. The rail bolted into the oak treads with five lag bolts per section, zero wall contact. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing, next to the coat closet. Install ran 3 hours.

Split-Level Landing Turn off Labore Road

Labore Road area, MN Installed February 2026

1978 split-level off Labore Road east of I-35E with a 90-degree turn at the landing — half-wall on one side, open railing on the other. Laser measurement took 55 minutes to capture every rise, run, and the 87-degree landing angle. The brown upholstered seat parks at the upper landing, tucked against the half-wall under the chandelier. The custom rail arrived in three sections, joined on site.

Compact Stone-Tread Stair on Rice Street

Rice Street corridor, MN Installed April 2026

Older home off the Rice Street corridor with stone-faced treads and a compact stairwell with a wooden sideboard at the base. The straight rail runs flush along the right wall, leaving 24 inches of clear walking space. Luis used a masonry bit for the tread anchors — same bolt-through method, different drill setting. The brown seat at the bottom landing sits beside the sideboard without blocking the hallway.

Weather-Sealed Porch Lift on Lake Gervais

Lake Gervais, MN Installed October 2025

Lake Gervais home with a rough stone-paved porch entry — six steps to the front door, beautiful in summer, treacherous in a Minnesota winter. Luis installed an outdoor-rated cream seat lift with IP55 weather sealing, sealed connectors, and a rail cover that sheds snow. Anchors went into the stone with stainless steel bolts. Two winters in, the unit handles freeze-thaw cycles without a hitch.

Carpeted Stairs in a 1964 Vianney-Area Rambler

Vianney area, MN Installed January 2026

1964 rambler near St John the Evangelist on Little Canada Road East — wall-to-wall beige carpet on the stairs, same tone as the lift's brown upholstery so it blends in. The rail mounts straight into the treads through the carpet and subfloor; bolt holes get covered by the brackets. Tiled floor at the base gave a solid surface for the charging station. Knee replacement scheduled for February.

Platform Lift

Indoor Wheelchair Platform at the Lake Vadnais Border

Lake Vadnais border, MN Installed December 2025

Mr. Carter uses a wheelchair full-time, and the townhome's staircase to the main floor was a barrier from day one at this Lake Vadnais border property near the regional trail. Luis installed an indoor inclined platform lift — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use. A powered ramp auto-deploys at the landing. The unit carries 600 lb.

Common Questions

Everything Little Canada Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

How much does a stairlift cost in Little Canada?

A straight stairlift in Little Canada starts at $2,800 installed. Curved units for split-levels and staircases with landings start at $9,000. Outdoor lifts for porch or deck stairs run from $4,000. Heavy-duty units that carry up to 600 lb start at $5,050. The price includes the in-home measurement, the rail, the seat, installation, and a walk-through demonstration. Most installs in Little Canada — ramblers off the Rice Street corridor, split-levels off Labore Road — fall into the straight-rail category.

What affects the price of a stairlift in Little Canada?

Rail shape is the biggest factor: straight stairs use a stock rail (lower cost), curved stairs need a custom-bent rail (higher cost). Stair length adds incremental material cost — a 16-foot rail costs more than a 10-foot. Outdoor units cost more because of weather-sealed components rated for Minnesota freeze-thaw cycles. Power outlets: every lift plugs into a standard wall outlet, but if your stairs don't have one nearby, an electrician adds roughly $150–$250.

Do you offer financing for stairlifts in Little Canada?

Yes — financing starts at $79/month. We also help Ramsey County homeowners apply for the VA's HISA grant (up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans) and Minnesota's Elderly Waiver EAA program (annual CPI-indexed limit of about $21,722, resets each calendar year). Many families combine financing with grant funds and pay little or nothing upfront.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a one-level home in Little Canada?

At $2,800 for a straight unit, a stairlift costs less than the first month's rent on a one-level apartment in Roseville or Shoreview, and you stay in the home you know. Compare that to selling a Twin Lake area rambler — realtor commissions alone run $10,000–$15,000, plus moving costs, plus the stress of leaving a neighborhood you've lived in for decades.

A word from Luis

Little Canada's housing stock is a real mix — you've got 1950s ramblers along Rice Street, newer construction near Gervais Lake, and those split-levels from the '70s off Labore Road. Each one needs a different approach. A rambler might take a straight rail in a morning. A split-level with a landing turn calls for a curved rail and a laser measurement on site.

The freeze-thaw cycle up here is no joke for outdoor installs. We spec sealed-electronics outdoor units with IP55 ratings on every porch lift near Lake Gervais and Twin Lake. I've put outdoor units in near St John the Evangelist on Little Canada Road East where the homeowner was icing the steps every December — now they just hit a button. That's the kind of fix that matters when you actually live through a Minnesota winter.

— Luis Ramírez, Little Canada
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Most Little Canada homes sit between 5 and 15 minutes from our warehouse in the north metro. We keep straight-rail kits stocked, so a rambler install along the Rice Street corridor or in the Twin Lake area can happen inside a week from the first call. Curved rails take about three weeks — the laser measurement happens on site, then the rail is bent to your exact staircase in fabrication.

Between the VA's HISA grant at $6,800 for service-connected veterans (processed through the Minneapolis VA Medical Center at 1 Veterans Drive or the Maplewood VA Clinic at 3100 Kennard Street) and Minnesota's Elderly Waiver EAA covering up to about $21,722 annually for qualifying seniors, a lot of Little Canada families pay nothing out of pocket. We walk through the paperwork at the in-home assessment.
