Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

The standard for Lee’s Summit’s split-levels, ranches, and two-story colonials from Lakewood to Winterset. About 65% of the stairlifts we install in the Lee’s Summit area are straight models. A single continuous rail bolts into your stair treads—never into the wall, never into the banister—and the seat and footrest fold flat when not in use. Battery backup keeps it running through the summer thunderstorms and spring tornado warnings that knock out power across eastern Jackson County. Most installs in post-1970 subdivisions finish in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Jackson County

Jackson County, MO

From the 1920s cottages in Todd George and the Downtown Historic District—where narrow treads, steep pitches, and original oak banisters demand careful bracket placement—to the 1970s–1990s subdivisions of Lakewood, Winterset, Pembroke Hill, and Chapel Ridge, where split-level staircases with 90-degree landing turns are the most common layout we measure, our crew has mapped every staircase pattern in Lee’s Summit. We know which Valley View and Eagle Creek split-entries need outdoor-rated anchors, which Oldham mid-centuries require extra-long lag bolts for original 1950s stair geometry, and which Woodland Shores and Park Ridge homes sit inside HOA jurisdictions where we file the reasonable-accommodation packet before the first drill bit turns.

Lakewood ranch home — straight rail on original oak treads

Lakewood, MO Installed March 2026

A 1978 ranch in the Lakewood subdivision with a finished lower level and a straight 14-step run on original red-oak treads. Mrs. Kowalski’s daughter in Overland Park had been asking her to move closer for two years, but the house was paid off and the garden club met three doors down. After a hip replacement at St. Luke’s East, the surgeon told her the stairs had to go or she did. We measured on a Wednesday morning, installed the following Monday. The rail bolts into the treads only—never touches the drywall, never touches the oak banister cap her late husband refinished in 1994. She rode it home from rehab the next Friday and called her daughter to say she was staying put.

Winterset two-story — curved rail with 90-degree upper landing turn

Winterset, MO Installed February 2026

A 1990s two-story in the Winterset subdivision with a wide staircase that makes a 90-degree turn at the upper landing before opening into the hallway. Two other companies quoted two separate straight rails with a transfer platform mid-landing. We laser-scanned the entire run, fabricated a single continuous curved rail, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so Mr. Drayton steps off directly onto the hallway carpet instead of pivoting on the top tread. He has Parkinson’s—the fewer transfers, the safer the ride. His wife tested it first, twice, before she let him on. It’s run every day since February without a single hiccup.

1920s Todd George cottage — stone foundation, narrow treads

Todd George, MO Installed January 2026

A 1924 cottage in the Todd George neighborhood just south of downtown Lee’s Summit, listed on the local historic inventory. Stone foundation walls, original plaster, narrow treads that measured just 8 inches deep—tighter than modern code allows. We pulled the carpet back on every tread to inspect the wood underneath, found solid white oak in good condition, and mounted the rail brackets with extra-long lag bolts to compensate for the narrow depth. The slim-profile rail tucks against the wall side so Mr. Kendall still has 28 inches of usable tread width when the seat is folded. His physical therapist from Lee’s Summit Medical Center came by to watch the first ride and signed off the same afternoon.

Outdoor

Valley View front entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Valley View, MO Installed December 2025

A 1985 split-entry in the Valley View neighborhood with seven exterior stone steps from the driveway to the front door. Mr. Nguyen is a retired Army staff sergeant who served at Fort Leonard Wood—he qualified for the full $6,800 HISA grant through the Kansas City VA Medical Center on Linwood Boulevard. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, his VA provider wrote the prescription within three weeks, and HISA covered the entire outdoor install. The rail is bolted into the stone paving with concrete-rated anchors, sealed against Missouri humidity, and coated for UV. It ran through the January ice storms and the March tornado warnings without a service call. Mr. Nguyen’s only complaint: his grandkids keep wanting rides.

Pembroke Hill colonial — straight rail on deep-pile carpeted stairs

Pembroke Hill, MO Installed November 2025

A 1992 colonial in Pembroke Hill with a straight 13-step run covered in deep-pile Berber carpet the family installed in 2008. Mrs. Franklin had a knee replacement at Saint Luke’s East and her orthopedic surgeon specifically recommended a stairlift before she came home. We used compression plates under every bracket to prevent the lag bolts from pulling through the carpet pad into the subfloor—a detail that matters on deep-pile because the padding compresses unevenly under load. The chair powers smoothly from the family room level to the bedrooms, the footrest folds flat so her husband can walk past, and the battery backup kept it running through a November power outage that lasted six hours.

Platform Lift

Oldham mid-century — inclined wheelchair platform lift with yellow safety edges

Oldham, MO Installed October 2025

A 1958 mid-century in the Oldham neighborhood north of downtown. Mr. Bautista is a full-time wheelchair user after a spinal cord injury—a seated stairlift was never an option. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift in the interior stairwell with a flat anti-slip platform, high-visibility yellow safety edges around the perimeter, and a white handrail along the wall side. The lift carries Mr. Bautista and his power chair along the staircase from the main floor to the bedroom level. His occupational therapist from the Kansas City VA—he’s a Gulf War veteran enrolled in the SCI program on Linwood—came out for the final walkthrough and approved it for his home care plan. The HISA grant covered $6,800 of the cost.

Common Questions

Everything Lee's Summit Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lee's Summit right now?

Straight rails for the standard ranch and colonial staircases across Lakewood, Pembroke Hill, Winterset, and the subdivisions east of 291 run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails—which you’ll need if your staircase has a 90-degree landing turn, common in 1970s–1990s split-levels throughout Lee’s Summit—run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-fabricated to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and stone-step split-entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Is pricing different in Lee's Summit than in Kansas City proper?

Equipment prices are identical—we don’t mark up for zip code. What can vary slightly is install labor when unusual conditions apply: compensating mounts for 1920s-era narrow treads in the Todd George and Downtown Historic District cottages, stone-anchor bolting for outdoor installs on paver entries, or shimming brackets on homes where Jackson County’s clay soil has shifted the foundation over decades. Every variable is a line item on the written quote. No surprise fees at install.

Do you offer financing for Lee's Summit homeowners?

Yes—three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans starting at $79/month. The application is a soft credit pull that doesn’t touch your score, takes about four minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Lee’s Summit families combine financing with a partial VA HISA grant or the IRS medical expense deduction to bring the monthly cost below what they spend on lawn care. We walk through the math during the free assessment—on paper, at your kitchen table.

What’s included in the quoted price?

Every Lee’s Summit quote covers the rail, seat unit, battery backup, all mounting hardware, full installation labor, post-install safety walkthrough, and your first 90-day service visit. There are no separate charges for the in-home measurement, anchoring into stone or tile treads, or hauling away packaging. The only add-on we ever quote separately is an extended service contract beyond the standard 5-year warranty—and that’s optional.

A word from Luis

Most Lee’s Summit families call me after a fall scare on a carpeted split-level staircase that’s been in the family since the Nixon administration. The kids are grown, the house is paid off, and nobody wants to leave a neighborhood they’ve spent 40 years in just because the stairs got harder.

Here’s what I do: drive out from KC within 24 hours, measure your staircase with a laser, and hand you a written quote good for 30 days. No high-pressure close. No bait-and-switch. If you want the numbers in Spanish, I do that too.
