Stairlift Service Across Lapeer County

Lapeer County, MI

Lapeer's housing stock spans 180 years. The Gothic Revival and Italianate homes on Calhoun Street — the Piety Hill Historic District on the National Register — sit near the 1846 courthouse downtown off Nepessing Street, holding some of Michigan's oldest occupied residences. The ranches and split-levels in Hunters Creek and newer 1990s colonials off DeMille Road and near Rowden Park round it out. Across these areas the stairs share Lapeer traits: original 32-inch oak treads in the Victorians, L-shaped turns in the bi-levels, and steep risers in the pre-1900 farmhouses along Turrill Road and out toward Millville. Most installs take under four hours.

Straight

Hunters Creek — straight lift on original oak treads

Hunters Creek, MI Installed March 2026

A 1978 ranch with original dark-oak stair treads — fourteen straight steps, no landing, the simplest install geometry. The Morrisons needed a lift after Mrs. Morrison's hip replacement made the bedroom stairs unusable. We bolted the rail to the treads in three hours and parked the beige seat at the bottom near the entry closet. The fold-up seat leaves clear walking room.

Curved

Piety Hill — curved rail around a 90° landing

Piety Hill / Calhoun Street, MI Installed February 2026

An 1901 Victorian two blocks from the 1846 courthouse. The staircase rises eight feet to a 90° turn at a half-landing, then continues another six feet to the upper hallway under a chandelier. We laser-measured the curved rail, shipped the sections pre-bent, and installed in one day. The brown seat parks at the upper landing, out of sight from the foyer.

Millville — compact straight lift on tile treads

Millville area, MI Installed April 2026

A small 1950s cottage near Millville with stone-tile stair treads and a wooden sideboard at the base. Only eleven steps, but steep — 7.5-inch risers. We mounted the straight rail to the treads and parked the brown seat at the bottom beside the sideboard cabinet. The compact footprint left clearance for the Kowalskis' side-door entry. Wrapped by noon.

Outdoor

Rowden Park — outdoor porch lift on stone steps

Rowden Park area, MI Installed October 2025

A five-step front-porch entry — rough stone paving, a 42-inch stoop with a wrought-iron railing. The Delgados' split-level has no ground-floor bedroom, so the porch steps were the daily barrier. We mounted the outdoor-rated cream seat to the stone treads, IP55 weather-sealed and battery-backed for Michigan winters. Installed on a crisp October morning before the first heavy snow.

South Lapeer — straight lift on carpeted bi-level stairs

South Lapeer, MI Installed January 2026

A 1980s bi-level with beige carpeted treads that match the lift upholstery. Twelve steps from the entry tile floor to the upper hallway. The Carters' staircase runs alongside a half-wall — no mounting surface on the right side — so the rail mounts to the treads on the left. Battery backup tested and working. Mrs. Carter uses it twice daily for her upstairs bedroom.

Platform Lift

DeMille Road — indoor wheelchair platform lift

DeMille Road corridor, MI Installed May 2026

The Simmons' son uses a wheelchair full-time, and their 1993 colonial off DeMille Road had no main-floor bedroom. We installed an inclined platform lift on the straight interior staircase — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail. The platform folds up when not in use. Rated to 600 lb, it gets him from the foyer to the second floor without transferring out of his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Lapeer Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Lapeer?

A straight stairlift in Lapeer starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts start at $9,000 because the rail is custom-bent to your staircase after a laser measurement. Outdoor units start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models at $5,050. These are out-the-door prices — the assessment is free and there's no travel charge to Lapeer.

What affects stairlift pricing in older Lapeer homes?

Stair width is the main variable in Lapeer's pre-1900 homes. Many Calhoun Street Victorians have treads under 32 inches wide, which calls for a narrower rail. L-shaped turns in mid-century bi-levels require a curved rail — that's custom-fabricated, so it costs more than a straight run. Outlet placement matters too; older homes sometimes need a dedicated circuit, which we handle during the install.

Is a curved stairlift in Lapeer worth the higher price?

If your stairs have a landing, turn, or switchback, a curved rail is the only option that works — and it does work. The rail follows your staircase's exact path without cutting into walls or modifying the structure. For Lapeer's older homes, where preserving original trim and plaster matters, a curved install leaves the house exactly as it was.

Are there any hidden fees for stairlift installation in Lapeer County?

No. The price Luis quotes at the in-home assessment is the price you pay. It covers the rail, the seat, delivery, installation, cleanup, and a walk-through demo. Lapeer County is inside our standard service area, so there's no travel surcharge. If your electrical panel needs a dedicated circuit, he tells you at the assessment — that's the only possible add-on, and it's rare.

A word from Luis

Lapeer's houses run the full timeline. The Gothic Revival and Italianate homes on Calhoun Street, in the Piety Hill historic district, have original 32-inch oak treads and steep risers — beautiful, but tight to work in. The mid-century ranches and bi-levels out in Hunters Creek and off DeMille Road usually have straight runs or an L-turn at a half-landing.

Michigan winters are the other factor. Freeze-thaw and February ice storms are hard on outdoor lifts, so every porch install I do is IP55-sealed and battery-backed. I give you a firm number the same day, with no travel charge anywhere in Lapeer County.

— Luis Ramírez, Lapeer
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Lapeer families have helped each other age in place since long before stairlifts existed. The county's Veterans Services office on Clay Street will sit down with you and walk through the HISA grant — they even provide free transportation to the VA clinics in Flint and Saginaw. Between that grant, the MI Choice Waiver, and $79/month financing, most households find a path that works.

Call (800) 965-0350 or fill out the form and we'll come out — whether it's a century farmhouse on Turrill Road or a ranch near Rowden Park. Luis measures the stairs, checks the outlet placement, and gives you a firm number the same day. No pressure, no travel charge — just a real quote from someone who knows Lapeer's houses.
