Stairlift Service Across Lafayette County

Lafayette County, LA

From Freetown-Port Rico — where pre-war shotgun doubles and raised Creole cottages have steep, narrow stairways with original cypress treads that families will not alter — to the Saints Streets, where 1950s-1960s colonials have wide formal staircases and original hardwood banisters passed down through generations, our team has mapped every staircase pattern in Lafayette Parish. We know which Downtown Lafayette historic homes have the tight upper landing that requires a folding-rail option, which River Ranch townhomes have the architectural review board that requires color-matched rail finishes, and which Kaliste Saloom Corridor subdivisions built in the 1990s and 2000s have the standard two-story layouts that install in under three hours. Adjacent communities in Scott, Broussard, Carencro, and Youngsville are within our same-day service radius — no travel fee, no delay.

1952 Saints Streets colonial — beige seat on dark hardwood treads

Saints Streets, LA Installed March 2026

A 1952 colonial on St. Mary Boulevard with original dark hardwood stairs and a warm oak banister that three generations of Moutons had walked past every day. Mrs. Mouton's daughter called from Houston after her mother stopped going upstairs entirely. We brought rail-finish samples on the first visit, matched to the original oak, and bolted the track into the treads without touching the banister. The beige seat rides along the warm hardwood stairs and parks flush at the lower landing.

90° landing turn in a Freetown-Port Rico raised cottage

Freetown-Port Rico, LA Installed February 2026

A raised Creole cottage in Freetown-Port Rico with an interior staircase that makes a 90° turn at the upper landing before opening onto the main living floor. A straight rail was impossible. We digitally scanned the staircase during the first visit, fabricated a curved rail that threads past the original cypress newel post at the upper landing, and installed in a single afternoon. The brown seat parks where the rail curves past the chandelier and Mr. Guidry's mother swivels 90° to step off onto the hallway floor.

Downtown Lafayette cottage — compact rail next to heirloom armoire

Downtown Lafayette, LA Installed January 2026

A pre-war Downtown cottage with stone-tile treads and an heirloom Cajun armoire built into the hallway alongside the stairs — a piece that had been in the family since the 1930s. We measured the clearance on the first visit, specified the narrow-profile rail on the opposite side, and mounted the brown seat to ride past the wooden sideboard with inches to spare. Mrs. Broussard's cottage looks exactly as it always has.

Kaliste Saloom Corridor — outdoor lift on stone entry steps

Kaliste Saloom Corridor, LA Installed December 2025

A 1990s home along Kaliste Saloom Road with a raised stone-paved entry — five exterior steps from the walkway to the front door. Mr. Hebert is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Alexandria VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, had the prescription back in six weeks, and installed the cream outdoor seat on the stone paving before hurricane season. Every bracket is humidity-sealed, the motor housing is rated for Louisiana's coastal climate, and the battery backup has ridden through two named storms since.

River Ranch townhome — swivel-exit on carpeted stairs for top-landing safety

River Ranch, LA Installed November 2025

A River Ranch townhome with 13 carpeted treads and a residential landing at the top. Mrs. Comeaux's biggest concern was the step-off at the upper landing — she has rheumatoid arthritis in both knees and the pivot from the top step to the hallway floor felt dangerous. We installed the swivel-exit seat that rotates 90° at the upper landing, so she stands on the hallway carpet instead of the top tread. The brown seat blends with the carpeted stairs and the ARC approved the color-matched rail in 10 days.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform for a raised Acadiana home entry

Freetown-Port Rico, LA Installed October 2025

The Thibodaux family's father uses a power wheelchair and their raised Creole-style home has an interior stairway from the ground-level entry to the main living floor — a common layout in older Lafayette Parish construction. We installed an inclined platform lift with yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway, a fold-up deck when not in use, and a keyed call station at the lower landing. The platform handles the wheelchair and rider without transfers, and the sealed motor housing has run through two full hurricane seasons without a service call.

Common Questions

Everything Lafayette Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Lafayette Parish right now?

Straight rails in standard Lafayette homes — the Saints Streets colonials, the Kaliste Saloom subdivisions, the River Ranch townhomes — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, common in older Freetown-Port Rico shotgun layouts and any staircase with a 90° turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and porch stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Lafayette than Baton Rouge or New Orleans?

Equipment prices are the same across Louisiana. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original cypress banisters in Freetown-Port Rico, mounting on the pier-and-beam construction common in older Acadiana homes, and coordinating the LSLBC-required permits when a new dedicated circuit is needed. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Is a used or refurbished stairlift safe in this humidity?

For straight interior staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30-40% — we carry factory-reconditioned rails with new upholstery, new batteries, and a 2-year warranty. We replace the motor housing seals and lubricant to our humidity spec on every refurbished unit sold in Louisiana, because the prior climate exposure is unknown. For curved rails, refurbished is almost never available. Ask us during the assessment.

Any hidden fees for homes in the flood zone?

Our quote covers everything for standard interior installs. For exterior installs on raised homes in FEMA-designated flood zones — common in the southern end of Lafayette Parish and across Vermilion and Iberia parishes — the mounting hardware must meet Louisiana's post-Katrina wind-load code, and local permits may apply. We include the permit fee in the quote and tell you on the first visit.

A word from Luis

Most Cajun Country families call me after something real — a fall on the steep wooden stairs in a Freetown-Port Rico shotgun, a mémère who hasn't been upstairs since her hip surgery, a daughter in Houston calling about her mother's two-story on the Saints Streets because the family homestead is not negotiable.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
