Stairlift Service Across Fairfax County

Fairfax County, VA

Kings Park West sits in Fairfax County's Braddock District, built in sections by Richmarr Construction from 1975 to 1986. The Kings Park West Community Association section — 580 homes off Commonwealth Boulevard — anchors the largest portion. The West Park Community (Section 25, 78 homes, completed 1983) represents the newest construction. Around Royal Lake, homes on Pommeroy Drive and Lakeside Court back up to the 36-acre lake and its 1.8-mile walking trail. The Lakeview area near Gainsborough Drive sits close to the swim club. Along Richardson Drive, several homes have seasonal lake views — and classic split-level floor plans with that mid-flight landing. The Laurel Ridge section feeds into Laurel Ridge Elementary (1970) and the Robinson Secondary pyramid.

Straight Lift on Oak Treads — Colonial Off Commonwealth

Kings Park West Community, VA Installed March 2026

Classic 1979 Kings Park West colonial — 14 dark oak treads, no turns, matching the original Richmarr floor plan. Luis bolted the straight rail to the treads in just under three hours; the beige seat parks at the bottom landing, out of the hallway sightline. Battery backup carries the lift through the winter power outages that hit Fairfax County a couple of times each season.

The brown seat parks at the upper landing near a chandelier, and the curved rail traces the turn exactly. Five-hour install, no drywall work.

Laurel Ridge, VA Installed February 2026

Luis positioned the rail tight to the wall; the brown seat folds up flat when parked. Masonry bit through the tile into the wood sub-tread for each anchor — the whole install fit neatly between the sideboard and the banister.

Common Questions

Everything Kings Park West Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Kings Park West?

A straight stairlift in Kings Park West starts at $2,800 installed. That covers a standard colonial or rambler staircase — 14 to 16 treads, no turns. Curved lifts for split-level homes with landings start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or deck access run from $4,000. Heavy-duty models with 600 lb capacity start at $5,050. Every quote is fixed — Luis measures your staircase during the assessment and gives you the number before he leaves. No surprises, no upsells.

Are there cheaper options than a curved stairlift for my split-level in Kings Park West?

No — if your staircase has a landing or turns, a curved rail is the only option that works. The alternative is two separate straight lifts, which costs more and takes up more space. The curved rail is laser-measured to your exact steps and built as a single continuous track. Most Kings Park West curved installs run $9,000 to $12,000 depending on the number of turns. Financing starts at $79 a month.

Is there sales tax on a stairlift in Virginia?

Yes — Virginia applies the standard 6% state sales tax to stairlift purchases, though Fairfax County does not add a local surcharge on medical equipment. Some funding sources, including the VA HISA grant, cover the full cost including tax. Luis walks you through the exact line items during the quote.

How much is the deposit for a Kings Park West stairlift installation?

We require 50% at contract signing, with the balance due after installation and your test ride. Financing through third-party providers brings the monthly payment to $79/month with approved credit. Luis covers all the payment options — cash, check, card, or financing — at the in-home assessment.

A word from Luis

Kings Park West homes were built in sections by Richmarr Construction between 1975 and 1986, so I've been inside just about every floor plan this neighborhood has — the Queens, the split-levels on Richardson Drive, the colonials off Gainsborough. The common thread is stairs. A lot of these houses have 14 or 15 treads with a landing halfway up, and the homeowners who bought in the '80s are now in their 70s and 80s.

I live ten minutes from here in Burke. When I pull up to a house on Pommeroy Drive or Commonwealth Boulevard, I already know what I'm walking into. The rail bolts to the treads, not the wall — install runs about three hours for a straight lift. If the staircase has that classic mid-level landing with a turn, we come out with the laser, measure for a curved rail, and have it bent to match within two weeks. I've done enough of these in the Robinson school pyramid to tell you: most families here put it off for two years, then call me after one bad evening on the stairs. It does not have to get to that point.

— Luis Ramírez, Kings Park West
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Kings Park West homeowners who bought in the 1980s are staying put — Fairfax County's 65-and-over population sits at nearly 16%, and most of those residents are aging in homes with stairs they have climbed for 30 or 40 years. A straight stairlift runs from $2,800 installed on a typical KPW colonial staircase. Curved rails for split-level landings start around $9,000.

Luis handles every Kings Park West install personally — from the first measurement on your treads to the final test ride. He knows the floor plans, the HOA rules, and which VA paperwork applies. Call or fill out the form to schedule an in-home assessment. Most assessments take 45 minutes and you get a fixed quote before he leaves.
