Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Washington County

Washington County, TN

The Tree Streets are where our most architecturally sensitive installs happen. This National Register historic district north of downtown has over 225 Craftsman bungalows and Colonial Revival homes on tree-named streets — Maple, Walnut, Cedar, Oak. The staircases are narrow, the treads are original hardwood, and preservation-district homeowners care how the rail looks. We bolt into the treads only, never the wall or banister.

Boone Trail, running south toward Jonesborough, is the 1950s–1960s ranch and split-level belt. The split-level entry with a mid-landing 90-degree turn is our most common staircase in Johnson City. North Johnson City climbs the ridge toward the Mountain Home VA campus, with steeper lots and more exterior stair challenges than the flatter neighborhoods south of State of Franklin Road.

Tree Streets bungalow — straight rail on original oak treads along Walnut Street

Tree Streets, TN Installed March 2026

A 1912 Craftsman bungalow on Walnut Street in the Tree Streets Historic District, with original quarter-sawn oak treads and a dark-stained hardwood staircase. Mr. Whitfield gained 40 pounds during recovery from a stroke and could no longer climb safely. His daughter drove from Raleigh for the assessment. We bolted a straight rail directly into the oak treads on the right side, keeping the slim-profile track tight against the wall. The seat parks at the bottom landing, folds flat, and leaves the full stair width clear. The original banister is untouched.

Boone Trail split-level — curved rail with 90-degree turn at the upper landing

Boone Trail, TN Installed February 2026

A 1958 split-level ranch on Boone Trail with the classic Johnson City layout: six steps up from the foyer, a 90-degree turn at the half-wall, then eight more to the bedrooms. Mr. Davis is a retired cabinetmaker who could no longer make the turn safely after a knee replacement. We laser-scanned the full geometry, fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall balustrade at the upper landing, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off directly onto the upstairs hallway floor. The curved section clears the framed family photos on the wall with room to spare.

South Side cottage — straight rail on stone treads in a compact 1940s home

South Side, TN Installed January 2026

A compact 1940s cottage south of State of Franklin Road with stone-capped treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs. Mrs. Hensley uses a walker and needed a straight-run solution that fit the tight space without blocking the hallway furniture. We mounted a straight rail on the stone treads using masonry anchors, positioned the seat to park next to the sideboard at the bottom, and fitted a folding footrest so the narrow passage stays clear. The cottage feel of the home is unchanged — the rail blends with the traditional interior.

North Johnson City hillside — weather-sealed outdoor rail on stone-paved porch entry

North Johnson City, TN Installed October 2025

A 1940s home on a sloped lot in North Johnson City, less than two miles from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center at Mountain Home, with exterior stone-paved steps from the driveway to the front porch. Mr. Carter is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for an HISA grant through the Quillen VA. We anchored a weather-resistant cream seat and straight outdoor rail into the rough stone paving, sealed every joint against Appalachian humidity, and cold-weather rated the battery for January ice storms. The stone entry and covered porch are unchanged — the lift parks flush at the top step beside the front door.

Mountain View ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs matching brown upholstery

Mountain View, TN Installed November 2025

A 1970s ranch in the Mountain View neighborhood where the family conversation — grandmother, daughter, two grandchildren — happened in Spanish. Sra. Flores had been sleeping in the recliner for weeks because the carpeted stairs to the bedrooms were too painful after a fall. Luis conducted the full assessment in Spanish, fitted a straight rail through the carpet into the wooden tread substrate at the landing, and matched the brown-upholstered seat to the carpet tones. The folding footrest keeps the stair width clear for the grandchildren. She slept in her own bedroom that night.

Platform Lift

Jonesborough home — indoor wheelchair platform lift for a veteran who cannot transfer

Jonesborough, TN Installed December 2025

An 1840s frame home on Main Street in Jonesborough where Mrs. Tipton’s husband uses a power wheelchair after a service-related spinal injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride between floors in his chair. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat anti-slip platform, yellow high-visibility safety edges on every moving surface, and a white handrail along the interior stairway wall. The lift runs on a standard outlet with battery backup, and the platform folds flat against the wall when not in use. The HISA grant through the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center covered most of the cost.

Common Questions

Everything Johnson City Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Johnson City right now?

Straight rails in standard Johnson City homes — the Boone Trail ranches, the Tree Streets bungalows with straight runs, the postwar colonials west of town — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, needed for split-level entries with mid-landing turns and Tree Streets homes with narrow L-bends, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for hillside entries and raised front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does Johnson City's hillside terrain make installs more expensive?

The equipment price is the same across Tennessee. What varies is the rail length and whether you need a curved rail: a Boone Trail split-level with a 90-degree landing turn requires more rail than a straight 12-tread run in a Tree Streets bungalow. We show you the exact footage and price during the assessment. There are no terrain surcharges, no Appalachian premiums.

Is the battery backup included in the price?

Yes. Every Johnson City install ships with a DC battery backup that keeps the lift running through power outages — and outages happen in the Tri-Cities, especially during January ice storms and late-summer thunderstorms. For homes where the stairwell runs through an unheated section or the lot faces north into the prevailing winter wind, we include the cold-weather battery spec rated to -20°F at no additional charge. It is part of the quote, not listed as an upgrade.

Do you charge extra for homes outside the city limits — Jonesborough, Gray, Limestone?

No. Every address in Washington County is inside our Tri-Cities coverage zone with no travel fee. Jonesborough is 10 minutes from our Johnson City base, Gray is 12 minutes, and the rural routes through Limestone, Telford, and Watauga are all within the same service area. We also cover the broader Tri-Cities corridor — Kingsport, Bristol, Elizabethton — with a small mileage charge for addresses beyond Washington County.

A word from Luis

Most Johnson City families call me after the same conversation — a parent who hasn’t been upstairs in the Tree Streets bungalow since a fall in September, a veteran at Mountain Home who spent three months waiting for paperwork that should have taken three weeks, a daughter in Raleigh who can hear her mother gripping the banister over the phone in a Boone Trail ranch and knows what’s coming next.

My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
