Stairlift Service Across Rock County

Rock County, WI

Courthouse Hill is Janesville's architectural crown — Victorian homes between Court Street and Jackson Street, added to the National Register in 1986. Italianate, Queen Anne, and Georgian Revival homes with steep formal staircases, carved newel posts, and landing turns that require curved rails. Every install bolts into the treads only — we never touch the banister or millwork.

Look West, the old First Ward, has narrower stairwells in worker cottages where compact-profile rails and fold-flat seats keep the passageway walkable. The east and west sides are 1960s–1970s ranch and split-level construction from the GM plant era — standard straight rails handle most installs in under four hours. We also serve Milton, Edgerton, Beloit, Clinton, and Footville without travel fees.

Straight

Courthouse Hill Victorian — straight rail on original dark oak treads

Courthouse Hill, WI Installed March 2026

An 1880s Victorian on Courthouse Hill with dark oak open-tread stairs and a straight run from the foyer to the second floor. Mrs. Fitzgerald's family has maintained the original hardwood treads for over a century. We bolted a straight rail to the right side of the treads — never into the wall or banister — and parked the cream seat at the bottom landing. The warm wood tones of the oak treads contrast with the beige upholstery, and the fold-flat seat keeps the passageway clear when not in use.

Curved

East-side colonial — curved rail bending around upper landing half-wall

East Side, WI Installed February 2026

A remodeled colonial on the east side with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the staircase wraps around a half-wall balustrade. Mr. Kessler, a GM retiree, needed a single continuous ride from the ground floor to the upstairs hallway. We laser-scanned the geometry, fabricated a curved rail that bends smoothly around the turn, and parked the brown-upholstered seat at the top floor so he steps off directly onto level hallway flooring. The modern interior — chandelier above, framed art on the wall — stays unchanged.

Look West cottage — compact straight rail beside sideboard in cozy stairwell

Look West, WI Installed January 2026

An 1890s worker cottage in the Look West Historic District with stone-tile treads and a compact stairwell next to a wooden sideboard. The stairway measures 27 inches wide — two other companies said a stairlift wouldn't fit. We specified the compact-profile rail and fold-flat seat that tucks against the wall near the sideboard and potted plant. The cottage feel of the traditional interior stays intact, and Mrs. Olson walks past the folded seat on her way to the kitchen without brushing it.

East-side raised porch — outdoor lift on stone-paved entry steps

East Side, WI Installed December 2025

A raised-porch ranch on the east side with natural stone paving at the entry and exterior steps that ice over from November through March. Mr. Kowalski is a veteran who qualified for an HISA grant through the Janesville VA Clinic. We mounted a weather-resistant cream seat on an outdoor rail at the front porch entry, with the stone-paved landing at the bottom and covered porch at the top. Every component is weather-sealed with freeze-thaw gasket protection, stainless fasteners rated for road-salt, and the -25°F-rated battery.

West-side split-level — straight rail on carpeted den steps

West Side, WI Installed November 2025

A 1968 split-level ranch on the west side with carpeted stairs from the main floor down to a landing. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones, and the rail runs alongside the wall where the light switches are mounted. Mr. Bauer retired from Parker Pen and navigates these steps a dozen times a day. The folding footrest keeps the carpeted treads clear for the grandchildren, and the tiled floor at the bottom landing gives a stable step-off point.

Platform Lift

Prospect Hill Victorian — indoor wheelchair platform lift for full-time chair user

Prospect Hill, WI Installed September 2025

A late-1890s Victorian on Prospect Hill where Mr. Schroeder uses a wheelchair full-time and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white handrail. The warm-toned walls of the Victorian interior frame the lift beside a window. Mr. Schroeder rolls onto the platform, locks his chair, and rides to the second floor independently four times a day.

Common Questions

Everything Janesville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Janesville right now?

Straight rails in standard Janesville homes — the east-side and west-side ranches, the post-2000 two-stories, the modest cottages in Look West — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most Courthouse Hill Victorians with landing turns and Prospect Hill homes with mid-landings, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor weather-sealed models for raised porches and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery backup rated to -25°F, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Janesville than in Madison or Milwaukee?

Equipment prices are the same statewide — we don't inflate quotes for Courthouse Hill or discount for the east side. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original woodwork in National Register homes, compact-profile rails for the narrow stairwells in Look West worker cottages, and the freeze-thaw gasket kit that every outdoor Rock County install gets as standard. We show you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Does the cold-weather battery cost extra?

No. Every Janesville install ships with the -25°F-rated lithium iron phosphate battery as baseline spec — we don't sell the factory-default sealed lead-acid that fails below -10°F. The cold-rated pack is included in the quoted price. Other companies sell it as a $300 add-on; we consider it non-negotiable in Rock County.

I'm a GM retiree on a fixed income. Any options?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull (no hit to your score), takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Janesville families combine financing with the IRS medical deduction (Schedule A, if your physician writes a recommendation letter — we provide the template). If you're 65+ and Medicaid-eligible, Wisconsin's Family Care or IRIS programs may cover the full cost. The Rock County ADRC is the entry point. We walk through every option during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Janesville families call me after a winter that made the stairs impossible — a parent who slipped on the carpeted treads in a Courthouse Hill Victorian during a February ice storm, a GM retiree who hasn't been upstairs since his hip replacement at Mercyhealth, a daughter in Madison who found out her father has been sleeping in the La-Z-Boy because the second floor feels too dangerous.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
