Stairlift Service Across Onslow County

Onslow County, NC

Jacksonville’s housing stock is shaped by Camp Lejeune. Piney Green, adjacent to the base’s back gate, has the densest concentration of military retirees in the county — 1970s and 1980s ranches and split-levels with short stair runs that install in under three hours. Half Moon, north of the city, runs newer 1990s two-story construction with wider stairs. Pumpkin Center, east of downtown, mixes older brick homes with manufactured housing where outdoor lifts for raised entries are common. Richlands, 20 minutes northwest on NC-258, has the highest concentration of Vietnam-era retirees — older homes, tighter stairwells, and a population that skews 15 years older than Jacksonville proper. Sneads Ferry and Swansboro along the coast add salt-spray exposure to every outdoor install — we spec 316-stainless fasteners and marine-grade rail coating for anything south of NC-24. Midway Park, Tarawa Terrace, and Camp Lejeune family housing areas round out the Onslow County service area.

Piney Green ranch — straight rail on hardwood treads for a retired Marine

Piney Green, NC Installed March 2026

A 1979 ranch off Piney Green Road with dark-stained oak open-tread stairs and a warm residential entry. MSgt (Ret.) Reeves bought the house during his second tour at Camp Lejeune and never left. Three decades of infantry operations left both knees compromised. We bolted a straight rail to the hardwood treads on the right side, seat parked at the bottom landing by the front entry. HISA covered the full cost through the Jacksonville VA Clinic on Brynn Marr Road and the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. Three hours on a Wednesday morning, zero out of pocket.

1962 Richlands colonial — curved rail around a tight upper-floor landing

Richlands, NC Installed February 2026

A 1962 colonial in Richlands with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing and a half-wall balustrade. Mrs. Sutton’s husband, a Vietnam-era Marine, passed three years ago. Her daughter in Raleigh arranged the assessment. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that bends around the half-wall and parks the brown-upholstered seat at the upper-floor hallway. The modern interior has framed art on the walls and a chandelier above the landing. NC CAP/DA covered the cost. Mrs. Sutton rides it four times a day.

Half Moon two-story — compact straight rail beside a hallway cabinet

Half Moon, NC Installed January 2026

A 1994 two-story home in Half Moon with stone-tile treads in a compact stairwell beside a wooden sideboard and potted plant. Mr. Kowalski, a retired Camp Lejeune civilian contractor, had a total knee replacement scheduled at Onslow Memorial. His wife wanted the lift working before he came home from surgery. We installed a straight rail in the cozy traditional space, seat at the bottom near the entry furniture. HISA covered the full cost through his non-service-connected benefit via the Fayetteville VA.

Sneads Ferry raised porch — salt-spray sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Sneads Ferry, NC Installed December 2025

A raised coastal home in Sneads Ferry with rough natural stone paving at the entry and exterior steps up to the covered porch. Salt air corrodes standard hardware in a single season this close to the coast. We installed a weather-sealed outdoor rail with a cream-colored UV-stabilized seat anchored into the stone entry, 316 stainless steel fasteners throughout, and marine-grade epoxy on the rail. HISA covered the full cost through the Jacksonville VA Clinic and the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. It has run through a full hurricane season without a service call.

Western Boulevard colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs

Jacksonville (Western Blvd), NC Installed November 2025

A 1986 brick colonial off Western Boulevard with carpeted stairs and a landing area between floors. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones on the treads. Sra. Delgado’s husband served 24 years as a Marine and qualified for the HISA grant through the Jacksonville VA Clinic on Brynn Marr Road. Luis conducted the assessment and walked the family through the installation in Spanish. The grant covered the full cost through the Fayetteville VA. Platform Lift

Pumpkin Center — indoor wheelchair platform for a disabled Marine veteran

Pumpkin Center, NC Installed October 2025

A raised-entry home in Pumpkin Center with an indoor stairway and orange-toned walls. Cpl (Ret.) Hayes uses a power wheelchair after a training accident at Camp Lejeune in 2009. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck, yellow high-visibility safety edges, and white handrails inside the stairwell. The window beside the stairway provides natural light. His SAH grant covered the full cost. Hayes said it is the first time since 2010 that he has entered his home independently.

Common Questions

Everything Jacksonville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Jacksonville, NC right now?

Straight rails in standard Jacksonville homes — the Piney Green ranches, the Half Moon two-stories, the brick colonials off Western Boulevard — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for split-level landing turns in older Richlands homes, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor and humidity-sealed models for raised entries and coastal porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the VA HISA grant cover the full cost?

For most straight-rail installs, yes. The HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities and up to $2,000 for non-service-connected. A standard straight rail in a Piney Green or Half Moon home runs $2,800 to $5,500 — well within the $6,800 cap. For curved rails that exceed the grant, many families combine HISA with out-of-pocket or financing to cover the difference. For veterans who qualify for the larger SAH or SHA grants, those cover significantly more — including most curved installs. We pre-fill VA Form 10-0103 and coordinate with the Jacksonville VA Clinic on Brynn Marr Road and the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.

Are military or veteran families charged differently?

No. Equipment and labor prices are the same for every Onslow County homeowner. What differs for veteran families is the funding path — HISA means many of our Jacksonville clients pay zero out of pocket. We pre-fill the VA paperwork at no charge, coordinate with the Jacksonville VA Clinic and the Fayetteville VA Medical Center, and don’t charge a premium for the administrative work. In a military town where Camp Lejeune is the economic backbone, this is how we do business.

Do you offer financing if I don’t qualify for VA or Medicaid?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull (no hit to your score), takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Jacksonville families combine financing with the IRS medical deduction or a partial HISA grant to bring the monthly payment down further. We walk you through the math during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Most Jacksonville families call me for the same reason — a retired Marine whose knees or back finally gave out after decades of hard service at Camp Lejeune, or a spouse managing the stairs alone in a home they bought on a Lance Corporal’s BAH twenty years ago. HISA is the first thing I bring up, because most Onslow County families qualify and most have never heard of it.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
