Common Questions

Everything Hurst Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Hurst, TX?

A straight stairlift in Hurst starts at $2,800 installed for the typical 12-14 ft 1964-era Mayfair or Hurst Hills two-story run. Curved rails for the half-wall turns occasionally found in Mason Park and Hurst West start at $9,000. Outdoor rails for slab-on-grade porches start at $4,000.

Does Medicare cover a stairlift in Hurst?

Standard Medicare does not cover stairlifts. Some Medicare Advantage plans available in Tarrant County include a one-time accessibility benefit — check your plan's Evidence of Coverage. STAR+PLUS Medicaid managed care plans in Hurst can cover home modifications case-by-case.

Can I finance a stairlift if I rent in Central Bellaire Park?

Yes. Renters in Central Bellaire Park, Hurst South, or any Hurst apartment complex can finance a stairlift starting at $79/month. Under the federal Fair Housing Act (42 USC 3604(f)(3)(A)), your landlord cannot refuse a reasonable modification at your expense — we provide the install spec sheet for the request.

Are there extra costs for the slab-on-grade homes in Hurst?

No. Slab-on-grade actually makes Hurst installs faster, not more expensive. The rail bolts to engineered floor joists in the upper level — the slab itself is irrelevant. Quote stays at $2,800 starting for straight runs.

A word from Luis

Hurst is mid-cities Texas, which means most of the housing stock went up between 1960 and 1985 on slab-on-grade foundations. That matters for stairlifts because the typical Hurst two-story has a tight straight run from a tile entry to a carpeted upper floor — usually 12 to 14 feet, almost always anchored to engineered floor joists I can find with a stud finder in five minutes.

Mayfair and Hurst Hills are full of 1964-era homes with the original turned-baluster railings still in place. I work around those — the rail bolts to the treads, not the wall, so the original woodwork stays intact. Central & Bellaire Park has more 1970s two-stories with slightly wider treads and the occasional half-wall turn at the bottom that needs a custom rail.

For outdoor jobs, the North Texas freeze-thaw plus the late-summer heat and humidity calls for IP55-rated hardware and 316 stainless fasteners. I do not use galvanized on Hurst outdoor installs — galvanized rusts within four summers in this climate.

— Luis Ramírez, Hurst
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Hurst homeowners benefit from a housing stock built mostly within a 25-year window: stair runs are predictable, slab foundations make joist-bolting simple, and most installs land in the 3-4 hour range. The variety lives in tread material, not staircase geometry — which is why we measure on site and quote before we order parts.
