Straight Stairlift

Bestseller

Most common · Built for Hanford's NAS Lemoore-era tract homes — narrow stairwells included. The majority of Hanford installs are straight-rail — the post-war and 1970s tract homes that dominate the city's west and east sides are well-suited to this model. We use the compact-profile rail for stairwells as narrow as 36 inches, which rules out the 'too narrow' objection other companies use to walk away. Rail bolts to your treads, seat and footrest fold flat, and the battery backup keeps the lift running through a Central Valley power outage.

Starting at $3,200 installed

What's Included

  • Battery backup for power outages
  • Swivel seat with safety lock
  • Two wireless remote controls
  • Soft start and soft stop motion
  • Fold-up seat, arms, and footrest
  • 10-year motor & gearbox warranty

Compared to Alternatives

vs Curved: 3x less expensive and installed in one visit. vs Home elevator: 10-15x less cost and no construction. vs Moving bedroom downstairs: Keeps your home exactly as it is.

Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Kings County

Kings County, CA

In Hanford, our busiest installation corridors are the northeast residential tracts around Glendale Avenue and Lacey Boulevard, the older downtown-adjacent blocks near Irwin Street, and the subdivisions that grew up in the 1980s along Airport Drive toward the Kings County Airport. Lacey Boulevard's Victorian-era homes run narrower and taller, the postwar tracts have standard-rise carpeted stairs that take a straight rail in under three hours, and the newer Airport Drive developments occasionally have open-riser floating stairs that need our closed-footrest safety accessory.

We also cover Home Garden and Armona on a regular rotation, and serve the rural county roads between Hanford and Laton. Older farmhouse stairways often have non-standard rise-run ratios, and we measure twice before ordering rail stock.

Straight

Straight rail on original hardwood — downtown Hanford Victorian

Downtown Hanford, CA Installed March 2026

A late-1890s Victorian near Lacey Boulevard with original fir stair treads and a period banister the family treated as a non-negotiable. The stairwell ran just 37 inches wide. We used the compact-profile rail, matched the hardware finish to the dark-stained wood, and bolted directly into the fir treads without removing a single spindle. The rail sits so close to the existing banister profile that from the bottom of the stairs it's nearly invisible.

Curved rail around a 90° landing — Glendale Avenue two-story

East Hanford, CA Installed February 2026

A 1970s two-story on Hanford's east side with a 90-degree landing turn that ruled out any straight-rail option. We digitally scanned the staircase geometry on the first visit, fabricated a curved rail to match the exact turn radius of the landing, and installed in a single afternoon. The upper parking position swivels the seat 90 degrees so Mrs. Gutierrez steps off onto the hallway floor rather than the top tread — a detail that mattered enormously to her after a previous fall at that landing.

Compact straight rail in a cozy Home Garden cottage

Home Garden, CA Installed January 2026

A compact 1950s cottage in Home Garden with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mrs. Sandoval refused to move. We ran the straight rail tight to the wall side, threading past the sideboard and a potted ficus without touching either. The brown seat folds flat against the rail when parked, leaving the narrow passage between the furniture and the staircase fully clear. A traditional Kings County home where every inch counted.

Outdoor

Outdoor porch entry lift — farmhouse south of Hanford

Rural Kings County, CA Installed December 2025

An older farmhouse south of Hanford with a raised front porch and rough stone paving at the entry. Mr. Torres had been using the back door for over a year to avoid the front steps. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone with masonry-rated expansion bolts, installed the cream weather-sealed seat with UV-stabilized upholstery, and sealed every electrical connection against Central Valley dust and tule fog. He walked out his own front door that afternoon for the first time in fourteen months.

Carpeted stairs with matching seat — NAS Lemoore-era tract home

West Hanford, CA Installed November 2025

A 1968 tract home on Hanford's west side built for NAS Lemoore personnel, with wall-to-wall carpeted stairs running from a tiled entryway to the upper landing. Three other companies had dismissed the 36-inch stairwell as too narrow. We installed the compact-profile rail through the carpeted treads, and the brown upholstered seat blends so closely with the carpet tones that it looks like it was always part of the house. The folded footrest tucks completely to one side at the landing, leaving room to walk past.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift — Airport Drive veteran

Airport Drive Area, CA Installed October 2025

Mr. Patterson is a retired Navy pilot from NAS Lemoore who uses a power wheelchair after a spinal injury. A standard seated stairlift was not an option — he needed a flat platform he could roll onto. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway of their Airport Drive home, with a flat black anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds against the wall when not in use so the rest of the family walks the stairs normally. His VA HISA grant covered the full cost.

Common Questions

Everything Hanford Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Hanford right now?

Straight-rail installs in Hanford's typical tract and ranch homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed — rail, seat, battery backup, and labor all included. If your staircase has a turn or a mid-landing, a curved rail runs $9,000 to $15,000 because it's manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for covered porches or raised entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written and honored for 30 days. No surprise line items added after you sign.

Does the Central Valley heat affect how much the install costs?

No — equipment pricing is the same regardless of climate. What we do include as standard in every Hanford install is a sealed motor housing rated for high-ambient-temperature operation and UV-stabilized seat fabric. These aren't upgrades you pay extra for; they're our baseline for any California Central Valley installation. Running a lift through a 108°F Hanford summer on a standard-spec motor isn't something we're willing to do.

Are there any discounts for veterans connected to NAS Lemoore?

We don't run a separate discount, but we do something more valuable: we handle the VA HISA grant application at no charge. For service-connected disabilities, that grant covers up to $6,800 of the installation cost — effectively a free straight-rail install or a major offset on a curved rail. For non-service-connected conditions, the grant is $2,000. Luis prefills VA Form 10-0103 during the assessment, so you leave the first visit with your paperwork already started.

Can I finance the remaining cost after a VA grant or Medi-Cal waiver?

Yes. We have three lending partners with 0% APR options for qualified buyers and fixed-rate plans starting from $79/month. The application is a soft credit pull — no score impact — and most approvals come back the same day. If a VA grant covers $6,800 and your straight-rail install is $4,200, your net cost is zero. For curved rails with a gap remaining after the grant, financing bridges that difference cleanly.

A word from Luis

Most Hanford families call me after something has already gone wrong — a fall on the stairs, a hospital discharge with no plan for getting upstairs, or a parent who quietly stopped sleeping in their own bedroom. Kings County has more veterans and disabled residents per capita than most of California, and a housing stock built fast for NAS Lemoore personnel in the 1960s and 70s. Those tract homes have tight stairwells and low ceilings that send other companies packing.

I carry the compact-profile rail on every Hanford call because I already know I'll need it. And if you're a veteran connected to the VA Central California Health Care System in Fresno, I'll prefill your HISA paperwork before I leave your kitchen table. The grant covers up to $6,800 — that's a free straight-rail install for most of the homes I see here.
