Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Worcester County

Worcester County, MA

We install across all six historic villages of Grafton plus the modern subdivisions that ring them. North Grafton near Tufts Veterinary School holds dense 1860–1900 millworker housing — narrow 32-inch staircases on original pine treads. Grafton Common centers on the 1717 town green with Federal and Greek Revival colonials, often with steep winders and tight upper landings. South Grafton blends the historic mill village around Fisher Park with newer Woodland Hills and Lordvale Acres subdivisions on larger lots. Farnumsville, Fisherville, and Saundersville sit along the Blackstone River and Quinsigamond corridor with 1840s mill-era duplexes and cottages — many with damp basements that need sealed lower drive housings. Every install accounts for Worcester County freeze-thaw cycles and the antique tread geometry that makes off-the-shelf rails fail.

Straight

North Grafton — straight rail on original 1880 millworker pine treads

North Grafton, MA Installed February 2026

Original 1880 millworker pine treads in a North Grafton cottage near the Willard House Clock Museum. Beige seat parked at the bottom landing, straight rail bolted directly to the treads — no wall mount needed. Hardwood is soft from age, so we used #14 stainless screws into pre-drilled pilot holes to prevent splitting.

Grafton Common, MA Installed January 2026

Brown seat parked at the upper landing of a 1865 Federal colonial on Grafton Common. The curved rail wraps a 90° turn around a half-wall leading into the upper hallway, with the original chandelier still hanging above. Custom rail bent to the exact stair geometry from photo-measurement before factory build.

Saundersville — straight rail in a compact 1840s mill cottage with stone treads

Saundersville, MA Installed December 2025

Brown seat at the bottom of an 1840s mill-era cottage near the Blackstone River, parked beside a wooden sideboard at the entry. Stone-flagged lower treads required masonry anchors instead of wood screws for the bottom three brackets. Cottage scale is tight — rail clears the sideboard by 4 inches.

Common Questions

Everything Grafton Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Grafton, MA?

A straight stairlift in Grafton starts at $2,800 fully installed. Curved rails for the winders common in Grafton Common and North Grafton colonials start at $9,000. Outdoor units start at $4,000, heavy-duty up to 600 lb at $5,050. Final price depends on rail length, turn count, and whether the staircase needs shimming for antique pine treads.

Are there hidden fees on a Grafton stairlift install?

No. The quote you sign covers the rail, motor, seat, install labor, removal of the old runner if needed, and the 5-year warranty. The two add-ons that occasionally come up: a sealed lower drive housing ($180) for the damp basements common in Saundersville and Fisherville, and a longer charge rail ($95) for homes in 1820s colonials with limited outlet placement.

What's the monthly payment on a Grafton stairlift?

Financing starts at $79/month with 0% APR through our Synchrony partner program, subject to credit approval. A $2,800 straight install at 60 months runs about $79/mo; a $9,000 curved at 84 months runs about $130/mo. We'll run your rate during the in-home estimate so you know before you commit.

Does Medicare cover stairlifts in Worcester County?

No — Medicare Part A and B do not cover stairlifts anywhere in Massachusetts because they are classified as home modifications, not durable medical equipment. The MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver does cover them through its assistive technology benefit, and the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected veterans through the Worcester VA Clinic at 403 Belmont Street.

A word from Luis

Grafton homes are unusual for one reason: the housing stock skews very old. The North Grafton mill cottages near the Willard House run 1860s, the Common is full of 1820–1880 colonials, and Farnumsville and Fisherville still have original millworker housing with treads that came out of a 19th-century sawmill. That changes everything I do here. I rarely meet a standard 36-inch staircase — most are 32 to 33 inches with a steeper-than-modern pitch and a tight winder at the second-floor landing.

I run a moisture-and-pitch check before I ever quote. The freeze-thaw cycle and a real nor'easter season warp old pine treads, so I shim every bracket pair and use a longer charge rail than I would in a 1990s subdivision. For Saundersville and South Grafton homes near the Blackstone, I add a sealed lower drive housing because those basements run damp eight months a year. No salt-air corrosion package — Grafton is 40+ miles inland, that's marketing nonsense for this town.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Grafton's mix of 1820 colonials, mill-era cottages, and modern South Grafton subdivisions means there is no single stairlift answer here. We measure the pitch, check the tread material, and quote the rail to your house — not to a catalog.

If your parent in North Grafton or the Common is starting to skip the stairs, call us. We'll come out for a free measure visit, take the actual measurements, and tell you what the install will cost — including whether MassHealth Frail Elder Waiver or HISA can cover part of it.
