Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Stephenson County

Stephenson County, IL

We cover all of Freeport and the surrounding Stephenson County townships. Downtown Freeport century homes on Stephenson Street and Galena Avenue have the original oak stair runs — narrow, steep, and often with loose treads that need reinforcement before the rail goes in. The Arcade Addition and East Freeport were platted in the 1890s with brick bungalows and foursquares typical of the Pecatonica River towns. Post-war ranches sit along Galena Avenue west and up toward Taylors Park. Newer subdivisions north of Pearl City Road and around Park Boulevard have wider 36-inch stairs and drywall that accepts rail brackets without drama. Every Freeport home gets a pre-visit — we need to know what's under the carpet before we commit to a timeline.

Common Questions

Everything Freeport Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Freeport, IL?

A straight-rail stairlift in Freeport starts at $2,800 installed, covering the lift, rail, labor, a 5-year warranty, and battery backup. Curved rails for the L-shaped stairs in Taylors Park foursquares start at $9,000 — the rail is custom-bent to your exact turn geometry and shipped in 4-5 weeks.

Does Medicare pay for a stairlift in Stephenson County?

No. Medicare Parts A and B classify stairlifts as home modifications rather than durable medical equipment, so there is no reimbursement in Freeport. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, check your Evidence of Coverage document — some MA plans offer a small annual home-accessibility allowance of $250-$500.

Is financing available for Freeport homeowners?

Yes. Financing starts at $79/month with approved credit, with terms from 24 to 84 months and no prepayment penalty. We also accept personal check or credit card at time of install. The written estimate shows the financed total cost and effective APR so there are no surprises at signing.

Are there hidden fees beyond the quoted price?

No. Our Freeport quote covers the lift, the rail, all installation labor, battery backup, and the first-year service visit. Power-swivel seats and upgraded upholstery are the only optional add-ons; both are itemized separately on the written estimate before you sign anything.

A word from Luis

Freeport homes split into two clear categories for me: the pre-1920 brick bungalows and foursquares clustered near downtown and Taylors Park, and the post-1960 ranches and splits in East Freeport. The first group has short, steep stairs — 7.5-inch risers were common then — and the seat needs a slower travel speed so the rider doesn't feel the pitch. The second group has wider, more gentle stairs, where a standard speed works fine.

The Arcade Addition bungalows are the trickiest installs in Freeport. The stair width in some of those 1890s cottages runs 28-29 inches, which is our minimum. I bring a compact-fold seat to every Arcade Addition quote so we can confirm fit before anything ships. The mahogany sideboards and built-in cabinetry in the entry halls are worth preserving — we're careful about where the rail bracket footprints land.

Freeze-thaw is the real enemy for outdoor rails here. Winter lows in Stephenson County hit single digits and the ground heaves. I spec every outdoor install with deeper anchor depth and stainless hardware. Battery backup is mandatory, not optional — ComEd outages after a line of severe storms can run six to twelve hours.

— Luis Ramírez, Freeport
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

If the stairs in your Freeport home have become the reason one of you is sleeping on the main-floor couch, a straight-rail install takes one morning. The house is back to normal by lunch, and battery backup is included in case the next squall knocks out ComEd across Stephenson County.

Call for a free measurement. We'll tell you in ten minutes whether a straight rail fits your stair geometry, and we'll run the Illinois Condominium Property Act §18.4(q) accessibility citation for you on the spot — useful if your Taylors Park or Park Boulevard HOA pushes back on the modification.
