Stairlift Service Across Somerset County

Somerset County, NJ

Somerset is where most Franklin Township installs happen. The 1960s–1980s colonials and bi-levels in Kingsberry Acres and along Easton Avenue have standard two-story staircases — 13 to 15 carpeted treads, straight run — that install in under four hours. The bi-levels with a mid-landing turn need a curved rail. Kingston, at the township's southern tip, has colonial-era stone and frame homes along King's Highway where we mount every rail into treads only, preserving original walls. Middlebush and Griggstown farmhouses have wide-plank floors and enclosed stairwells where ceiling height and tread width both factor into the rail spec. In the 55+ communities — Canal Walk and Renaissance at Raritan Valley — stairs are code-compliant and HOA approval is the main variable. We carry the NJ Law Against Discrimination reasonable-accommodation packet to every 55+ assessment.

Straight

Somerset colonial — straight rail on dark oak open-tread staircase

Somerset, NJ Installed March 2026

A 1975 colonial in the Somerset section with dark-stained oak open-tread stairs — 14 treads, no risers, straight run from the foyer to the second-floor hallway. Mrs. Gianetti had been avoiding the stairs since a fall in January. We bolted a straight rail to the right side of the oak treads, specified the beige seat to complement the warm wood tones, and added a swivel-exit at the top landing. The rail follows the tread line without touching the banister. Three and a half hours from unboxing to her first ride upstairs.

Kingston colonial — curved rail around the upper landing turn

Kingston, NJ Installed February 2026

A colonial-era home on King's Highway in Kingston with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, framed art along the stairwell wall, and a chandelier above the curve. Mrs. Whitfield, 87, needed a rail that followed the bend without touching the hand-turned walnut banister. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a single curved rail that parks the brown-upholstered seat at the upper hallway, and matched the rail finish to the aged wood. She steps off onto level floor at the top — one continuous ride, zero transfers.

Middlebush farmhouse — compact stairwell, stone treads, straight rail

Middlebush, NJ Installed January 2026

A colonial-era farmhouse on Amwell Road in Middlebush with stone-capped treads, an enclosed stairwell, and a wooden sideboard at the bottom landing. The space is compact — barely 30 inches from wall to banister. We specified a slim-profile seat that folds flush against the wall next to the sideboard and a straight rail bolted into the stone treads. The cottage feel of the home stayed intact. Mrs. Vanderveer rode upstairs for the first time in six weeks.

Griggstown farmstead — outdoor lift on stone-paved front porch entry

Griggstown, NJ Installed December 2025

A 1940s farmstead on Canal Road in Griggstown with a raised front porch and rough stone paving at the entry. Mr. Hoagland is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Lyons VA Medical Center. We mounted a weather-sealed cream outdoor seat on stainless-steel masonry anchors into the stone-paved entry steps, with an IP55-rated motor housing sealed against Central Jersey humidity and freeze-thaw. He uses it every morning to reach his truck from the front door and every evening to get back inside.

Canal Walk townhome — carpeted stairs, matching brown seat

Canal Walk, NJ Installed October 2025

A townhome in the Canal Walk 55+ community with wall-to-wall carpet on the stairs and a tiled landing at the bottom. After submitting the NJ Law Against Discrimination reasonable-accommodation packet, the HOA approved in nine days. We bolted a straight rail through the carpet into the plywood subfloor, specified a brown-upholstered seat that blends with the carpet tones, and finished in three hours. Mr. Brennan had shoulder surgery scheduled the following month and wanted the lift running before rehab. He used it the day he walked through the front door.

Platform Lift

Franklin Park — indoor wheelchair platform lift for full-time chair user

Franklin Park, NJ Installed September 2025

A 1955 Cape Cod in Franklin Park where Mr. Kaminski, a full-time wheelchair user after a spinal surgery at Robert Wood Johnson, had been confined to the first floor for eight months. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift alongside the existing staircase — a flat anti-slip platform with bright yellow safety edges, white handrails on both sides, and automatic gate locks at upper and lower levels. The platform carries his chair from the main floor to the upstairs bedrooms without transferring. He accessed his home office upstairs for the first time in eight months the day of the install.

Common Questions

Everything Franklin Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Franklin Township right now?

Straight rails in standard Franklin Township homes — the colonials in Somerset, the Cape Cods in Franklin Park, the newer townhomes in Canal Walk — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for most 1960s–1970s bi-levels with mid-landing turns and older Kingston and Middlebush homes with enclosed stairwells, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and exterior steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Do prices vary between different sections of the township?

Equipment prices are the same whether you're in Somerset, Kingston, or Canal Walk — we don't inflate quotes for premium-band addresses. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving fieldstone walls in Kingston and Griggstown farmhouses, threading rails through enclosed colonial-era stairwells in Middlebush, and shimming brackets on wide-plank floors where 200 years of settling have left treads uneven. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise add-ons on install day.

Is there a charge for the in-home assessment?

Zero. The home assessment is free, takes about 45 minutes, and comes with a written quote honored for 30 days. We laser-measure your staircase, check the electrical outlet situation (older Franklin Township homes often lack an outlet within six feet of the stairs), and photograph the treads and landing for the fabrication team. If you need a curved rail, the digital scan happens during this same visit — no second appointment. No obligation, no deposit, no credit card.

Are there additional fees for 55+ community installs in Franklin Township?

Our quote includes the HOA paperwork we prepare for you. Under the NJ Law Against Discrimination and the federal Fair Housing Act, condo boards and HOAs in age-restricted communities must permit reasonable accessibility modifications. We've handled approvals in Canal Walk, Renaissance at Raritan Valley, and other 55+ associations across Somerset County. The reasonable-accommodation documentation packet is included at no charge. If a board requires its own engineer's letter (rare), we tell you before we start — not after.

A word from Luis

Most Franklin Township families call me after the conversation they've been avoiding — a parent who hasn't been upstairs in the Kingston colonial since her hip replacement, a retired teacher in Somerset who slipped on the carpeted stairs of a 1970s bi-level, a son in Hoboken worried about his father alone in a Middlebush farmhouse with 16 steps and nobody else in the house.

My job is simple: drive to your home within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
