Stairlift Service Across Sebastian County

Sebastian County, AR

From the Queen Anne Victorians of Belle Grove — Fort Smith’s oldest residential neighborhood and the first historic district established by city ordinance in Arkansas — to the 1920s Craftsman bungalows of Fitzgerald with steep interior stairs and upper-landing turns, our team has measured staircases across Sebastian County. We know which Midland Boulevard cottages have native fieldstone risers requiring shimmed brackets, which Park Hill ranches have standard carpeted basement stairs that install in three hours, which Southside porches need weather-sealed outdoor rails, and which split-level ranches south of Towson Avenue have the 90-degree landing turn only a custom curved rail can handle. We also cover Van Buren, Barling, Lavaca, and Bonanza with no travel surcharge inside Sebastian or Crawford County.

Straight

Belle Grove Victorian — straight rail on original oak treads

Belle Grove, AR Installed March 2026

A 1910 Victorian in Fort Smith's Belle Grove Historic District with original oak treads and a hand-turned newel post. Mrs. Dalton broke her hip in January and spent six weeks recovering at Mercy Fort Smith before coming home to a staircase she could no longer climb. We measured the 14-foot straight run, confirmed the treads were solid quarter-sawn oak that would hold the rail brackets without reinforcement, and installed in a single morning. The rail mounts into the treads only — the original oak banister and spindles are untouched.

Curved

1924 Fitzgerald Craftsman — curved rail around the upper landing turn

Fitzgerald, AR Installed February 2026

A 1924 Craftsman bungalow in the Fitzgerald Historic District with a 90-degree turn at the upper landing. The staircase rises eight steps from the living room, bends left at a small landing, then climbs four more steps to the hallway. Mr. Nguyen served 22 years in the Army and has lived in this house since 1991. We laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a single curved rail, and installed a swivel-exit seat so he steps off onto the hallway floor. His HISA grant through the Fort Smith VA Clinic covered the bulk of the cost.

Midland Boulevard cottage — straight rail on stone-and-timber stairs

Midland Boulevard, AR Installed January 2026

A 1940s stone-and-timber cottage on Midland Boulevard with an interior staircase built from native Arkansas fieldstone risers and hardwood treads. The treads had settled unevenly over 80 years. Two other companies told the Garzas the stairs needed to be rebuilt. We shimmed the rail brackets at three points to compensate for the grade variation and installed in a single afternoon. The fieldstone risers are untouched. Luis walked Sra. Garza through every control in Spanish at her kitchen table.

Southside raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone paving

Southside, AR Installed December 2025

A raised front porch on a 1950s Southside ranch with seven stone-paved exterior steps and no handrail. Mr. Pritchard is an 84-year-old Korean War veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Fort Smith VA Clinic. We anchored the outdoor rail into the stone treads with stainless-steel wedge bolts rated for freeze-thaw cycling, sealed the motor housing against Arkansas humidity, and added a rain cover over the parked cream seat. The lift has run through a full winter of ice and spring thunderstorms without a single service call.

Park Hill ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs, three-hour install

Park Hill, AR Installed November 2025

A 1965 ranch in Park Hill with a full basement accessed by a standard 13-step carpeted staircase. Mrs. Longworth's laundry, freezer, and storm shelter are all downstairs. We bolted the rail through the carpet and pad into the tread lumber, confirmed the brackets seated flush at the landing, and ran the full test cycle in under three hours. The brown upholstered seat blends with the carpet tones. The folding footrest clears the stair width so her son can still carry groceries down to the basement.

Platform Lift

Fort Smith split-level — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

Midland Boulevard, AR Installed October 2025

A 1970s split-level off Midland Boulevard where the main living area sits four steps above the garage-level entry. Mr. Robles is a full-time wheelchair user — a seated stairlift was never an option. We installed an indoor inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip platform, bright yellow high-visibility safety edges around the perimeter, and a white handrail. The yellow safety edges are required under ASME A18.1 and stop the platform if anything breaks the plane. His VA service-connected disability rating qualified him for the full $6,800 HISA grant.

Common Questions

Everything Fort Smith Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Fort Smith right now?

Straight rails in standard Fort Smith homes — the Park Hill ranches, the Midland Boulevard cottages, the two-story colonials across Southside — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for the Fitzgerald-era Craftsman landings and 1960s split-level ranches south of Towson Avenue, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured for your exact staircase. Outdoor models sealed against the River Valley's 46 inches of annual rain run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and covers the rail, seat, battery backup, installation, and first service visit.

Are prices different in Fort Smith than in Little Rock or Fayetteville?

Equipment costs are identical — we don't mark up for geography. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming brackets on pre-1950 stone-and-timber stairs in Belle Grove, pulling an electrical permit for a dedicated circuit in a Fitzgerald bungalow where the landing outlet is shared with the living room, or anchoring an outdoor rail into native fieldstone porch steps. We itemize every cost on the written quote before you sign anything.

Does the 22.5% disability rate in Fort Smith affect pricing or wait times?

Fort Smith has one of the highest disability rates in Arkansas — over 22% of the population — which means demand for accessibility equipment is steady year-round. We keep inventory staged in the River Valley specifically because of that demand. Standard straight rails install same-week. Curved rails require 10-14 days for fabrication but we schedule the install date at the first visit so there's no guessing.

What's included in every Fort Smith stairlift quote?

Every written quote covers the complete rail, seat unit, battery backup, all mounting hardware, professional installation, safety testing, a full walkthrough of controls, and the first annual service visit. No hidden line items. If your staircase needs shimmed brackets for uneven treads or an electrical permit for a dedicated circuit, those costs appear on the quote before you sign — never after.

A word from Luis

Most Fort Smith families call me after a fall — or almost a fall — on steep original stairs in a Belle Grove Victorian or a Fitzgerald-era Craftsman that’s been in the family for three generations. The stairs haven’t changed since 1920, but the knees have.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a written price that’s good for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
