Stairlift Service Across Cass County

Cass County, ND

Island Park's 1910s–1930s Foursquares have some of the steepest interior stairways in Cass County, with original hardwood treads and banisters families refuse to alter — straight rails bolt directly into those century-old oak treads. South Fargo's 1960s–1970s split-levels have the classic half-flight-down, half-flight-up layout that almost always requires a curved rail at the landing turn. Roosevelt bungalows often have the tight upper landing that needs a folding-rail option. Downtown Fargo historic homes in the designated district may require a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior-visible outdoor work. North Fargo postwar homes typically have carpeted stairs and swivel-exit configurations that work best for top-landing safety. West Fargo, Horace, and Harwood are within our same-day service radius — no travel fee.

1922 Island Park Foursquare — beige seat on original dark hardwood treads

Island Park, ND Installed March 2026

A 1922 Foursquare in Island Park with original dark hardwood treads and an oak banister the family had maintained for a century. Mrs. Larson's daughter called from Minneapolis after her mother fell on the third step during a January cold snap. We measured on Tuesday, installed Thursday. The beige seat rides the warm hardwood stairs and the rail finish was color-matched to the original oak. Mrs. Larson says the house feels exactly the same — except now she uses every floor again.

90° landing turn in a 1965 South Fargo split-level

South Fargo, ND Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in South Fargo with the classic layout — six steps from the entry to the main floor, a 90° turn at the landing, then eight more to the bedrooms. A straight rail was impossible. We laser-scanned the staircase, fabricated a curved rail that carries Mr. Erickson from the front entry to the upper hallway in one continuous ride, and installed in a single afternoon. The brown seat parks at the upper landing where the curved rail turns past the chandelier, and the swivel-exit lets him step off onto the hallway floor.

Roosevelt bungalow — compact rail alongside original stairway woodwork

Roosevelt, ND Installed January 2026

A 1930s bungalow in Roosevelt with stone-tile treads on the basement stairs and a wooden sideboard built into the stairway wall — a storage feature common in pre-war Fargo homes. Mrs. Halverson's children refused to have it removed. We specified the slim-profile rail on the opposite side so the brown seat rides past the sideboard with clearance to spare. The cottage-style detail is untouched, and the compact footrest folds flush when parked.

North Fargo raised entry — extreme-cold sealed for Red River Valley winters

North Fargo, ND Installed December 2025

A raised entry in North Fargo with five stone paving steps up to the front door, fully exposed to Red River Valley winters. Mr. Peterson is a retired Air Force veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Fargo VA. We prefilled VA Form 10-0103, had the prescription back in five weeks, and installed the cream outdoor seat before the first hard freeze. Every bracket is hot-dip galvanized, the motor housing is sealed against ND’s extreme cold cycling, and the −40°F battery kept it running through the January polar vortex.

Downtown Fargo two-story — straight rail on carpeted stairs with landing tile

Downtown Fargo, ND Installed November 2025

A Downtown Fargo two-story with 13 carpeted steps and a tiled landing at the bottom. Mrs. Hanson hadn't been upstairs to her bedroom in three months after a hip replacement at Sanford Fargo. We bolted the rail brackets through the carpet and pad into the tread structure beneath — the carpet stays intact on both sides of the rail. The brown seat matches the warm brown carpet tones, and the wall-mounted light switches remain fully accessible. She was upstairs in her own bedroom the evening of install day.

Platform Lift

South Fargo indoor wheelchair platform lift — full accessibility for a power chair user

South Fargo, ND Installed October 2025

Mr. Olson uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. His 1970s South Fargo home has a basement office he could no longer reach. We mounted an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor basement stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges and a white safety handrail. The warm terracotta-painted walls and the window at the landing give the space natural light. He rolls onto the platform at the top, rides the incline, and rolls off into his office. No transfers, no assistance needed.

Common Questions

Everything Fargo Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Fargo right now?

Straight rails in standard Fargo homes — the Island Park and Roosevelt bungalows, the South Fargo split-levels, the newer West Fargo two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front entries and basement walk-outs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every Fargo quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, and the extreme cold-weather −40°F battery as standard — not an add-on.

Are stairlift prices different in Fargo compared to Bismarck or Grand Forks?

Equipment prices are the same across North Dakota. The −40°F extreme cold-weather battery ships as standard spec on every ND install regardless of city. What varies slightly in Fargo is install labor for specific conditions: preserving original hardwood banisters in 1920s Island Park Foursquares, the thermal battery enclosure for unheated garages and three-season porches, and the occasional electrical upgrade in a pre-1940 bungalow near Downtown. We itemize all of those on the written quote before we start.

Is a refurbished stairlift a safe option for a Fargo home?

For straight interior staircases, a certified refurbished unit can save 30 to 40 percent. We carry factory-reconditioned rails with new upholstery and a two-year warranty. We will not sell any refurbished unit in Fargo without replacing the battery to our −40°F extreme cold spec — factory-default batteries fail in North Dakota winters, and we will not put a substandard battery in a Cass County home. The battery swap is included in the refurbished price, not an upgrade fee. For curved rails, refurbished inventory is rarely available.

Does the Red River flood risk affect stairlift costs in Fargo?

Not the equipment cost directly, but Fargo homes in the FEMA 100-year flood plain along the Red River may need a quick-release seat bracket so the seat motor can be carried upstairs ahead of a spring flood event. We include that bracket at no extra charge for any Fargo install in a mapped flood zone — it’s a small part that has protected stairlift motors through every major Red River flooding event since 2009. The rail itself bolts to the treads and survives a typical basement water event without structural damage.

A word from Luis

Most Red River Valley families call me after the first bad winter — a parent who couldn't get downstairs during a −30°F cold snap because the unheated stairwell was too dangerous, a veteran whose knees gave out after years of North Dakota winters, a daughter in Minneapolis calling about her father's Island Park bungalow because the basement stairs are getting steeper every year.

My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells.
