Our Surfside ranch on Stevens Boulevard has the kind of short straight stairs that should be easy, and with Luis it was. He measured Monday, installed Thursday. The program covers mobility and accessibility modifications broadly; stairlifts aren't named as a separate line item, so you'll want to confirm scope with them directly. The Lake County Senior Services Division (440-350-2748) can also point you to the right levy-funded program.
Does Medicaid cover a stairlift for someone in Eastlake?
It depends on age. The Ohio Home Care Waiver, for Ohioans under 60 with a physical disability, lists "home modifications" as a covered service on an individualized care plan (800-626-7277) — stairlifts aren't itemized by name, but home modifications are, so it's worth an application. PASSPORT, the equivalent waiver for Ohioans 60 and older, does not list home modifications among its covered services, so it's a weaker path for a stairlift specifically.
What can a veteran in Eastlake get toward a stairlift?
The VA's HISA grant — $6,800 lifetime max for a service-connected disability, $2,000 for others — explicitly excludes stair glides from what it covers, so that program won't pay for the lift itself.
