Stairlift Service Across Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County, CA

From the mid-century estates of Northeast Downey — the Gallatin Road corridor and Orange Estates, where preserving original oak banisters is the first conversation — to the 1950s postwar ranch tracts of South Downey along Suva Street and Foster Road where slab foundation shift has left treads subtly uneven after seven decades, our team has mapped every block.

We know which North Downey cul-de-sacs have the raised-entry split-levels that require a curved rail, which West Downey homes near Rancho Los Amigos need wheelchair platform lifts, and which Downtown Downey townhomes off Downey Avenue have the wide post-2005 stairs that install in three hours flat. We also cover Bellflower, Norwalk, Paramount, South Gate, and Bell Gardens — all within 15 minutes.

Straight

Northeast Downey estate — straight rail on original oak treads, newel post untouched

Northeast Downey, CA Installed March 2026

A 1958 mid-century ranch estate east of Lakewood Boulevard with original oak treads, a wide staircase, and a family instruction of ‘don’t touch the newel post.’ We bolted a slim-profile straight rail into the stair treads only, routed the wiring along the baseboard, and parked the seat at the bottom landing on the warm hardwood floor. Mrs. Nakamura had a total hip replacement at PIH Health Downey six weeks prior. Her physical therapist cleared her for stairs with assistance — the stairlift replaced the assistance. The oak banister and every original detail are exactly where they were in 1958.

North Downey split-level — curved rail with 90° upper landing turn

North Downey, CA Installed February 2026

A 1963 split-level off Gallatin Road with six steps from the entry foyer to the living level, a 90-degree turn at the upper landing, then four more steps to the bedroom hallway. We laser-scanned the entire run, fabricated a curved rail that carries Mr. Gutiérrez from the front door to the bedroom level in one continuous ride, and installed a swivel-exit seat at the top so he steps off onto the hallway floor. The seat parks at the upper landing near the half-wall balustrade. The slab foundation had settled about 1/4-inch over 63 years — we shimmed the rail brackets to compensate. The entire consultation happened in Spanish, from the first phone call through the final walkthrough.

South Downey cottage — straight rail on decorative stone-tile entry steps

South Downey, CA Installed January 2026

A 1955 California cottage off Suva Street with decorative stone tile on the interior entry stairs and a compact, traditional feel. Mrs. Pacheco’s son drove down from Bakersfield after she told him she’d been scooting down the stairs on her seat for six months. We drilled pilot holes with a diamond-tipped masonry bit at each bracket location to avoid fracturing the stone tile, seated every bracket on a neoprene gasket to prevent vibration cracking, and mounted a straight rail from the entry to the main floor. A wooden sideboard with a potted plant sits near the base. The stone is intact, and Mrs. Pacheco rides it confidently.

West Downey raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone-paved porch steps

West Downey, CA Installed December 2025

A 1960s raised-entry home near Rancho Los Amigos with seven exterior stone-paved steps leading up to the front porch. Mr. Orozco was discharged from Rancho after a stroke and the rehab team asked whether he had a way to get from the driveway to the front door without stairs. The cream-colored outdoor seat is mounted on a straight rail anchored into the stone paving, UV-coated for the inland SoCal sun, and sealed against the Santa Ana wind-driven dust that jams unprotected rail gearing. Every fastener is masonry-rated. The Rancho discharge coordinator now keeps our card on file.

Foster Road tract home — straight rail on deep-pile carpeted stairs

South Downey, CA Installed November 2025

A 1967 tract home along Foster Road with wall-to-wall carpet on every stair tread and a landing area. The brown carpet matched the upholstery we selected for the seat. Abuela Reyes had been sleeping on the living room couch for two months because she didn’t trust the carpeted stairs after dark. We drilled through the carpet into the plywood sub-tread at each bracket location, seated the bolts through compression washers so the carpet doesn’t bunch around the mounting points, and installed a straight rail with a folding footrest. The carpet is intact, the vacuum still fits under the folded seat, and Abuela Reyes sleeps in her own bedroom again.

Platform Lift

West Downey ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift for Rancho Los Amigos patient

West Downey, CA Installed October 2025

A 1964 ranch home three blocks from Rancho Los Amigos where Mr. Tran uses a power wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. A seated stairlift was not an option. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface, high-visibility yellow safety edges on the platform perimeter, white handrails, and automatic fold-down ramps at both levels. The yellow edges are OSHA-standard visibility markers. The lift runs on a standard 120V outlet, requires no pit excavation, and fits inside the existing indoor stairway width with five inches of clearance on each side. The Rancho OT signed off on the home modification plan before discharge.

Common Questions

Everything Downey Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Downey right now?

Straight rails in standard Downey homes — the 1950s ranch homes in South Downey, the mid-century estates in Northeast Downey, the newer townhouses near Downtown — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for most North Downey split-levels off Gallatin Road and L-shaped staircases in older two-stories, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor and weather-sealed models for raised front entries and exterior porch steps run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Northeast Downey than South Downey?

Equipment prices are the same across every Downey zip code — we don’t inflate quotes for Northeast Downey estates or Gallatin Road addresses. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original oak banisters in mid-century estates, shimming rail brackets for foundation-settled treads in 1955 South Downey cottages, and masonry-anchored brackets on decorative stone-tile entry stairs. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise premiums.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Downey assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of families along Paramount Boulevard, in South Downey, and across the southeast LA corridor through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Is Downey cheaper than West LA or Orange County for a stairlift?

Equipment prices are identical regardless of zip code — we don’t adjust for neighborhood or county. What can vary is labor for unusual conditions: masonry-bit drilling on stone-tile entry stairs in South Downey cottages, shimming brackets over foundation-settled treads in 1950s ranch homes, or running a dedicated circuit in a home with original Knob-and-Tube wiring. No travel surcharges anywhere in southeast LA County. The written quote is the number you pay.

A word from Luis

Most Downey families call me after a close call on the stairs — a parent who grabbed the banister and missed in a North Downey ranch, a grandmother in South Downey who hasn’t gone upstairs in weeks after a knee replacement, a daughter in San Francisco worried about her mother alone in the house she’s lived in since 1962.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.

I know these mid-century neighborhoods block by block — which North Downey split-levels off Gallatin Road need a curved rail at the landing, which South Downey tract homes have foundation-settled treads that need shimmed brackets, and which West Downey ranches near Rancho Los Amigos need a wheelchair platform instead of a seat. If your home has stairs and someone in it needs help, call me first.
