Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Houston County

Houston County, AL

From the 1940s brick bungalows of the Garden District — where original hardwood staircases and plaster walls define every install — to the 1960s-70s brick ranch split-levels in Westgate and Chapelwood where the mid-landing 90-degree turn is the most common staircase geometry we measure in Dothan, our team has mapped every neighborhood in the Wiregrass hub.

We know which Cloverdale homes have the steep narrow interior stair that needs a compact-profile rail. We know the Highland Oaks subdivisions along the Ross Clark Circle corridor where newer two-story construction installs fast and clean. We know the Downtown blocks around Foster and Main where historic conversions have staircase geometries that match no standard template. Dothan is the regional hub for the tri-state Wiregrass — we also cover Enterprise, Ozark, Daleville, Headland, Abbeville, and Eufaula.

1940s Garden District bungalow — rail bolted to original heart-pine treads

Garden District, AL Installed March 2026

A 1942 brick bungalow on Burdeshaw Street in the Garden District with original heart-pine treads, 13 steps, and plaster walls the family refused to let anyone damage. Mrs. Mitchell’s daughter lives in Enterprise and had been driving over every weekend to help her mother navigate the stairs since a hip fracture in January. We bolted the rail into the treads — the old-growth pine held the brackets tighter than any modern lumber we’ve worked with — and left the plaster, the banister, and the original hardwood floors completely untouched. The seat parks at the bottom landing on the warm hardwood floor, ready to ride.

Highland Oaks colonial — curved rail bends 90° around the upper landing balustrade

Highland Oaks, AL Installed February 2026

A 1990s colonial in Highland Oaks with a wide formal staircase, oak banister, and a 90-degree turn at the upper landing where the stairs meet the second-floor hallway. Mrs. Kelley was adamant her front hall should not look like a medical facility. We laser-scanned the full run, fabricated a curved rail that bends smoothly around the half-wall at the top, and mounted a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto the upper hallway floor. The rail finish matches the existing oak. She hosts her garden club monthly — two members have asked for our number. The HOA reasonable-accommodation packet was approved in three days.

1953 Cloverdale cottage — compact rail in a narrow stairwell with stone-tile treads

Cloverdale, AL Installed January 2026

A 1953 brick cottage in Cloverdale with a steep, compact interior staircase — 29 inches wall to wall, 14 stone-tile treads, and original plaster in fair condition. Mrs. Raines is 81 and had been using the stairs sideways, one step at a time. We installed the compact-profile rail flush against the wall with a folding seat and footrest that tuck flat, leaving 22 inches of clear width for her visiting caregiver. A wooden sideboard with a potted plant sits at the base of the stairs — the folded rail clears it with room to spare. She goes up and down four times a day now.

Garden District raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor lift on stone-paved entry steps

Garden District, AL Installed December 2025

A 1946 bungalow in the Garden District with a raised front porch, six exterior stone-paved entry steps, and a pecan tree dropping debris on the entry path nine months of the year. Mr. Crawford is a Vietnam-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Wiregrass VA Clinic. The cream-colored outdoor seat is mounted on a straight rail anchored into the stone paving, with IP55 weather-sealed motor housing, stainless fasteners, and a desiccant pouch in the rail cavity. It ran through the full 2025 Wiregrass summer — 95-degree days, 80% humidity, afternoon thunderstorms — without a service call.

1968 Westgate ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs at the mid-landing

Westgate, AL Installed November 2025

A 1968 brick ranch in Westgate with wall-to-wall carpet on every tread and a landing area halfway up the staircase. The brown carpet matched the upholstery we selected for the seat, giving the whole install a cohesive look. We drilled through the carpet into the plywood sub-tread at each bracket location, seated the bolts through compression washers so the carpet doesn’t bunch around the mounting points, and installed a straight rail with a folding footrest. The carpet is intact, the vacuum still fits under the folded seat, and Mr. Tanner rides it to the bedroom level every evening.

Platform Lift

Chapelwood ranch — indoor wheelchair platform lift for spinal surgery patient

Chapelwood, AL Installed October 2025

A 1970s ranch in Chapelwood where Mr. Grimes uses a power wheelchair after spinal fusion surgery at Southeast Health. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair from the garage-level entry up five steps to the main living floor. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black anti-slip surface, high-visibility yellow safety edges on the platform perimeter, and white handrails. The yellow edges are OSHA-standard visibility markers, not decorative. The lift runs on a standard 120V outlet, requires no pit excavation, and fits inside the existing stair width. Mr. Grimes rolled from the garage to his living room on the first day home.

Common Questions

Everything Dothan Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Dothan right now?

Straight rails in standard Dothan homes — the brick bungalows in the Garden District, the two-stories in Highland Oaks, the newer construction along the Ross Clark Circle corridor — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you’ll need for the 1960s-70s Westgate and Chapelwood ranch split-levels with 90-degree mid-landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor and humidity-sealed models for raised entries and front porches run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Is Dothan cheaper than Birmingham or Montgomery for a stairlift?

Equipment prices are the same across Alabama — we don’t adjust quotes based on your metro size or zip code. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: compact-profile rail in a narrow Garden District stairwell, shimming brackets for foundation settlement on older Cloverdale homes, or running a dedicated circuit in a pre-1960 house with original wiring. Travel fees are zero anywhere inside Houston County, and we don’t charge a ‘rural surcharge’ for Wiregrass addresses. The written quote is the number you pay.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Dothan assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked families across the Wiregrass through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

My husband is a Fort Rucker retiree. Do military families get a discount?

Our pricing is the same for all families — we don’t mark up non-military quotes to subsidize a military ‘discount.’ What Fort Rucker retirees do get is a dedicated HISA funding track: we prefill VA Form 10-0103, coordinate with the Wiregrass VA Clinic and the Central Alabama VA Health Care System, and most service-connected veterans end up with $6,000–$6,800 of the cost covered by the HISA grant before they spend a dollar. That’s a better outcome than any percentage discount.

A word from Luis

Most Dothan families call me after the stairs have already become the thing nobody talks about — a retired helicopter pilot from Fort Rucker whose back surgery left him sleeping in a recliner downstairs, a grandmother in the Garden District whose grandchildren visit from Enterprise every weekend but she can’t get to the guest room to make the beds, a son at Lyster Army Health Clinic calling because his father in Westgate hasn’t been upstairs in three months.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.

I’ve measured every staircase geometry Dothan builds — the steep heart-pine treads in Garden District bungalows, the 90-degree mid-landing turns in Westgate ranch split-levels, the raised brick porches that bake in Wiregrass summers. If your home has stairs and someone in it needs help, I’ve probably already installed in a house with the same layout three streets over.
