Stairlift Service Across Scott County

Scott County, IA

From the Hamburg neighborhood — where 1910s and 1920s bungalows on the bluffs above the Mississippi have steep interior stairs, original hardwood treads, and narrow archways that demand the compact-profile rail — to McClellan Heights, where 1950s–1960s colonials have the full-flight staircases that are our bread-and-butter straight-rail install. We know which Vander Veer homes near the park have the tight Victorian stairwells that require a curved rail, which Village of East Davenport houses from the 1860s–1880s have the steepest treads in the Quad Cities, and which west-side subdivisions have the wide 1970s stairs that install in three hours flat. Because the Quad Cities span two states, we also cover Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline on the Illinois side — all within 20 minutes.

1918 Hamburg bungalow — rail color-matched to original oak treads

Hamburg, IA Installed March 2026

A 1918 bungalow on the Hamburg bluffs with original oak treads and a dark walnut banister the family refused to alter. We brought color samples, matched the rail finish to the existing oak grain, and bolted the track into the treads without touching a single spindle. The cold-weather battery is rated to -20°F — standard on every Quad Cities install. The seat sits at the bottom landing, folded flat against the wall when not in use.

90° landing turn in a Vander Veer Victorian

Vander Veer, IA Installed February 2026

A late-1800s Victorian near Vander Veer Park with a 90° turn at the upper landing and an original newel post that the rail had to thread past without touching. We laser-scanned the staircase, custom-fabricated a curved rail that carries the rider from the front hall to the upper bedrooms in one continuous ride, and added a swivel-exit seat parked at the top floor landing. Mr. Schmidt, 84, stepped off onto the upstairs hallway for the first time in two years.

Narrow Village of East Davenport — compact rail in a tight 1870s stairwell

Village of East Davenport, IA Installed January 2026

An 1870s home in the Village of East Davenport with one of the steepest, narrowest stairwells in the Quad Cities — original treads and a wooden hall table at the bottom of the stairs. We fitted the compact-profile rail next to the sideboard furniture, added a folding footrest so the lift tucks flat when parked, and left the hall table and original woodwork untouched. The cozy, traditional interior stayed exactly as the family remembers it.

McClellan Heights raised porch — weather-sealed outdoor rail for Iowa winters

McClellan Heights, IA Installed November 2025

A 1950s colonial in McClellan Heights with a raised front porch, six stone steps from the walkway to the front door, and an Iowa winter approaching. Mr. Kline is a Vietnam veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Iowa City VA. The outdoor rail is sealed against snow, ice, and road salt, cold-rated to -20°F, and anchored into the existing stone paving. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat sits at the porch entry level, ready for the next ride up.

West Davenport carpeted stairs — swivel-exit seat for safer top landing

West Davenport, IA Installed October 2025

A two-story home on the west side with 14 carpeted treads and a top landing where Mrs. Hansen's husband had fallen the previous winter. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones, and the swivel-exit rotates 90° at the upper landing so she stands on the hallway carpet instead of balancing on the top step. The cold-weather battery has carried them through a polar-vortex outage and a spring thunderstorm without missing a trip.

Platform Lift

West Davenport split-entry — indoor wheelchair platform lift with safety edges

West Davenport, IA Installed September 2025

The Moreno family's father uses a power wheelchair and needed indoor access between the split-entry levels in their West Davenport home. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a flat black anti-slip deck and bright yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway. The yellow strips are pressure-sensitive emergency stops — not decorative. The platform folds up when not in use and he operates it independently with a joystick at armrest height.

Common Questions

Everything Davenport Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in the Quad Cities right now?

Straight rails in standard Davenport homes — the bungalows in Hamburg, the colonials in McClellan Heights, the homes near Vander Veer Park — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you'll need for the Victorian stairwells in the Village of East Davenport and the bluff-lot homes with mid-landing turns, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact geometry. Outdoor models for raised porches and basement-access side entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-weather battery, and the first service visit.

Are prices different in Davenport than Des Moines or Cedar Rapids?

Equipment prices are the same across Iowa. What varies is install labor for unusual conditions: preserving original millwork in Hamburg and East Davenport, the cold-weather battery that ships standard on every Scott County install, and compensating rail mounts for century-old treads warped by Mississippi River humidity. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise fees.

I'm on a fixed income. Is there a budget option?

Yes. Certified pre-owned straight rails start at $1,800 installed with a 2-year warranty. We also offer 0% APR financing from $79/month. For Scott County veterans, the VA HISA grant covers up to $6,800 for service-connected disabilities. Iowa's Disabled Veteran Homestead Tax Credit gives 100% service-connected vets a full property-tax credit, and many families apply the annual savings toward the stairlift. We help you map every funding option during the free assessment.

Does the quote include the cold-weather battery for Iowa winters?

Yes. Every Davenport install ships with a cold-weather LiFePO4 battery rated to -20°F and 72-hour backup capacity. The August 2020 derecho knocked out Quad Cities power for days — our installs ran through the entire outage. The 2019 polar vortex dropped the wind chill to -33°F and the cold-rated battery kept running. The battery, charger, and first annual health check are included in every quoted price.

A word from Luis

Most Davenport families call me after a near-miss — a slip on the original hardwood stairs of a Hamburg bungalow, a parent who stopped going upstairs after a knee replacement, a daughter in Chicago worried about her mother in a McClellan Heights colonial she’s lived in since the 1960s.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that’s honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
