Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Clarion County

Clarion County, PA

We cover all of Clarion Borough and the surrounding county. Around Liberty Street and the courthouse district, late-1800s Victorians have steep staircases with half-turn landings that often call for a custom curved rail. The Foursquares and bungalows along Greenville Avenue and Wood Street typically take a straight rail on original oak treads, finished in about three hours. Near Grant Street and the Sutton-Ditz House, older homes need careful work around historic woodwork. Out toward Fifth Avenue and South Clarion, mid-century ranches and split-levels are common. We also serve Shippenville, Strattanville, Knox, and Rimersburg with the same no-travel-charge in-home assessment.

Straight

Liberty Street — straight rail on original oak treads

Liberty Street, PA Installed March 2026

Built in 1898 a block from the Clarion County Courthouse, this Victorian still had its original oak treads, darkened with age. We bolted a straight rail directly to the treads in bracketed sections, leaving the oak banister and the plaster wainscoting untouched. The cream seat parks at the bottom landing near the front hall. Three hours, start to finish.

Curved

Main Street District — curved rail around a half-landing

Main Street District, PA Installed January 2026

This 1905 home near Main Street had a staircase that turned 90 degrees at a half-landing under a hanging fixture. The custom curved rail was laser-measured on site, fabricated off-site, and installed in one morning. The brown seat parks at the upper landing, letting Mrs. Boozel reach her bedroom without negotiating the turn. The original newel post and trim were never in the work area.

Greenville Avenue — straight rail on stone-tile treads

Greenville Avenue, PA Installed April 2026

This compact 1960s cottage on Greenville Avenue had stone-tile treads and a narrow stairway tucked beside a wooden sideboard. We pre-drilled each bracket hole with a masonry bit so the tile would not crack, then mounted the straight rail to the treads. The brown seat parks at the bottom, clearing the sideboard by several inches. Mrs. Heeter was riding it the same afternoon.

Outdoor

Shippenville — outdoor lift on a stone entry stairway

Shippenville, PA Installed October 2025

This Shippenville home had a rough stone entry stairway climbing to the front door, fully exposed to the plateau winters. We mounted an IP55 weather-sealed outdoor stairlift to the stone with stainless anchors. The cream seat, powder-coated rail, and sealed motor housing came through a 23-inch January snowstorm and single-digit cold without a service call. Mr. Reinsel had been avoiding his own front steps for a year.

Wood Street — straight rail on carpeted split-level stairs

Wood Street, PA Installed February 2026

This split-level on Wood Street had wall-to-wall carpeted stairs in warm brown tones. The brown seat matched the carpet almost exactly — a detail Mrs. Kahle noticed right away. We bolted the straight rail through the carpet and pad into the plywood sub-treads below, and the tiled floor at the base gave a clean transition.

Platform Lift

South Clarion — indoor wheelchair platform on a straight stair

South Clarion, PA Installed May 2026

This South Clarion home had a straight indoor staircase down to the family room, and the Slaugenhaupts' son uses a wheelchair. We installed an inclined platform lift with a flat black deck and yellow safety edges along the side of the staircase. He wheels on, locks the chair, and rides down in under a minute. It took most of the afternoon to align the rail to the pitch exactly.

Common Questions

Everything Clarion Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Clarion, PA?

A straight stairlift in Clarion starts at $2,800 installed. Curved lifts, custom-built after a laser measurement of your staircase, start at $9,000. Outdoor units for porch or entry stairs start at $4,000, and heavy-duty models rated for 600 lb start at $5,050. These prices include the in-home assessment, rail, installation, and warranty. There is no travel charge to any 16214 address.

Are there hidden fees or travel charges for Clarion installs?

No. The price Luis gives you at the in-home assessment is the price you pay. We do not charge a travel fee for any address in Clarion, Shippenville, Strattanville, Knox, or Rimersburg. The quote includes the rail, seat, motor, battery backup, labor, and cleanup. The only thing that changes the price is if the assessment reveals a curved-rail need where a straight was expected — and we show you why before any work begins.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Clarion homes?

Curved stairlifts cost more because each rail is custom-fabricated to your exact staircase after a laser measurement. Many of the older Victorians near Liberty Street and the courthouse have a 90-degree turn or a half-landing partway up. A curved rail typically takes two to three weeks from measurement to install, while a straight rail can often go in the same week. The starting difference — $2,800 versus $9,000 — reflects that custom engineering.

Do Clarion's older historic homes cost more to fit a stairlift?

Not necessarily. The rail bolts to the stair treads, not the wall, so the plaster, trim, and original woodwork in a Liberty Street Victorian or a Grant Street home stay untouched. The age of the home does not affect install time or cost. What matters is the stair geometry — straight versus curved, the width between walls, and any obstruction at the landings. Luis checks all of it during the free assessment.

A word from Luis

Clarion is an old college town, and the houses show it. A lot of the homes near Main Street and Liberty Street were built between 1890 and 1920 — tall, narrow Victorians and Foursquares with steep staircases and a half-turn landing partway up. Those stairs were built for young legs, not for someone who has lived in the house for forty years and now has a bad hip. I have put straight rails into homes off Greenville Avenue and custom curved rails into the bigger Victorians up the hill, and the method is the same either way: the rail bolts to the treads, not the wall, so the original oak banister and plaster stay exactly as they are.

The other thing I tell families here is that Clarion winters are real. We sit on the Allegheny Plateau and we get heavy snow — there was a stretch this past January with two feet on the ground and single digits for a week. If your mom has an outdoor entry stair, the lift needs the IP55 weather sealing and the battery backup, because the power does go out when the ice loads up the lines. Call me at the number on this page and I will come measure the stairs and give you an honest number — no charge to come out anywhere in Clarion County.

— Luis Ramírez, Clarion
Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Clarion's older neighborhoods are full of families having the same conversation: Dad wants to stay in the house off Greenville Avenue where he raised his kids, but the staircase has become a daily risk. A stairlift keeps the home intact — no remodeling, no moving, no damage to the original oak banister or the plaster he has lived with for decades.

We cover the whole county — Clarion Borough, Shippenville, Strattanville, Knox, and Rimersburg — and there is no travel charge to any address. Whether it is a straight lift in a Wood Street bungalow or a custom curved rail in a Liberty Street Victorian, the install is bolt-to-tread, battery-backed, and usually done in a single morning. Call or fill out the form and Luis will come out, measure, and give you a real number. Same-week scheduling.
