Our Butterfield Ranch home has dark oak stairs with iron spindles and I was worried the stairlift would wreck the look. All American bolted the rail into the treads only, never touched a spindle, and the beige seat blends right in.
The 90-degree turn at the top of our Rolling Ridge staircase had two other companies telling us we'd need two separate lifts. All American scanned the curve, built one rail that follows the arc, and my husband rides from the entry to the bedroom in a single trip.

Does having a split-level or angled staircase add much to the price?
Yes, a real amount. Straight-rail lifts are the cheapest configuration because the track is a standard length; a curved rail has to be measured and fabricated to match your specific turn or landing, which is common on the graded lots throughout Chino Hills. We do an in-person measure before quoting a curved job since no two landings pitch quite the same on hillside construction like this.
How long does installation take on a Chino Hills staircase?
A straight-rail lift is usually a same-day install since the rail bolts to the stair treads, not the wall or the framing. A curved rail for one of the mid-landing staircases common in villages like Rolling Ridge takes longer because the track is custom-fabricated to that specific turn after we measure it, so there's a lead time between the site visit and install day.
Can a stairlift actually work on the steep, graded staircases in Chino Hills?
Yes, that's most of what we install here. The hillside grading that shaped Chino Hills' master-planned neighborhoods means a lot of homes have steeper pitches or a landing partway up rather than a simple flat-to-flat flight, and curved-rail track is built specifically to follow that kind of turn. We wouldn't quote a straight rail on a staircase that isn't actually straight.
Is there Medi-Cal help for a stairlift in San Bernardino County?
Two programs to know about. The Medi-Cal HCBA Waiver covers Environmental Accessibility Adaptations with no fixed individual dollar cap under the plan of treatment, though the waiver is currently at its participant maximum with a waitlist. Call (916) 552-9105 or Disability Rights CA at 1-800-776-5746 to ask about your spot. Separately, Medi-Cal managed-care plans offer Community Supports with an Environmental Accessibility Adaptations benefit that explicitly lists stair lifts as covered; San Bernardino County members are served by IEHP (1-800-440-4347) or Molina, and the cap is set by your specific plan; L.A. Care's version, for comparison, caps at $7,500 lifetime.
My mom is in Chino Hills on IHSS, will that pay for the lift?
No, IHSS is a caregiver-hours program, not a home-modification program, and it won't directly pay for a stairlift or any physical modification. What it can do is free up money elsewhere in the household budget by covering paid caregiver time. For the actual equipment, San Bernardino County's Department of Aging and Adult Services at (909) 891-3900, or their Senior Information & Assistance line at (909) 891-3917, is the right first call to get routed to the waiver or EAA programs that do cover it.
Does the VA cover a stairlift for a veteran in Chino Hills?
The VA's Specially Adapted Housing grant tops out at $126,526 for FY2026 and the Special Home Adaptation grant at $25,350, both of which can fund a stairlift when it's part of an approved home accessibility adaptation plan, though the VA's own program page describes the grants as funding to "build, buy, or modify a home" without naming stairlifts specifically, so it's worth confirming your exact scope with the VA. Call 1-800-827-1000 to start that conversation. The HISA grant is a separate track and its stairlift coverage is genuinely unclear from VA's own materials, so I'd lead with SAH or SHA first for a lift.
