The workhorse of Cheyenne’s two-story homes — from Western Hills subdivisions to Capitol North Victorians. Over 60% of the stairlifts we install in Cheyenne are this model. A single straight run, the rail bolts to your stair treads (never into the wall), the seat and footrest fold up out of the way, and every Cheyenne unit ships with the -30-degree-rated lithium iron phosphate battery and altitude-calibrated motor as standing upgrades. Post-1990 Western Hills and Dell Range installs wrap in under three hours. Capitol North and South Side historic homes take longer for precision work but the result is the same — a clean, quiet ride that parks out of the way.

Stairlift Service Across Laramie County

Laramie County, WY

Capitol North’s 1905–1930 Victorians have narrow 28-to-32-inch staircases with original fir treads and hand-turned oak banisters — every install here gets a slim-profile rail bolted into the treads only. The South Side Historic District’s railroad-era cottages run even tighter, sometimes 27 inches between plaster walls, requiring precision shimming for century-old foundation settling. Fox Farm-College’s 1960s split-levels are our highest-volume curved-rail neighborhood — the 90-degree mid-landing turn needs a custom-fabricated rail. The Ranchettes north of town sit on 3-to-5-acre lots where the nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away and outdoor entry lifts are common. Western Hills and the Dell Range subdivisions are post-1990 builds with standard geometry — our fastest installs, typically under three hours.

1918 Capitol North Victorian — slim rail between original plaster walls

Capitol North Historic District, WY Installed March 2026

A 1918 Colonial Revival on a tree-lined block north of the State Capitol, with original Douglas fir treads, hand-turned oak spindles, and plaster walls the homeowner has maintained for 38 years. Mrs. Harrigan, 83, was clear on the phone: nothing gets touched except the treads. We installed the slimmest-profile rail in our lineup, bolted into the fir tread wood only, color-matched to the original oak so it reads as millwork when parked at the landing. The staircase is 30 inches wide and the folded seat clears the wall by 4 inches — enough for her grandson to walk past without turning sideways.

1967 Fox Farm-College split-level — curved rail through a 90-degree landing

Fox Farm-College, WY Installed February 2026

A 1967 split-level ranch in Fox Farm-College — six steps from the foyer to the main living level, a 90-degree turn at the mid-landing, then eight more steps up to the bedrooms. We laser-scanned on the first visit, fabricated a custom curved rail in 10 days, and installed it with a swivel-exit seat at the upper landing. Mrs. Bridger, 79, had been sleeping in a hospital bed in the dining room for four months because the split-level turn was too much for her after a hip replacement. She slept in her own bedroom the night of the install.

1908 South Side cottage — compact rail beside the family sideboard

South Side Historic District, WY Installed January 2026

A 1908 frame-and-clapboard cottage in the South Side Historic District with stone tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs that Mr. Lucero refused to move — it belonged to his grandmother. We mounted the brown-upholstered seat on a compact-profile rail, positioned the lower park point so the folded chair clears the sideboard by three inches, and drilled into the stone treads using masonry anchors rated for the full weight. The cottage character stayed intact. Mr. Lucero, 76 and third generation in that house, rode it to the second floor three times before we packed up the tools.

Outdoor rail on stone paving at a Ranchettes raised front entry

Ranchettes, WY Installed December 2025

Mr. Dawson’s Ranchettes home sits on a 4-acre lot north of the city with a raised front porch and stone-paved entry steps. After his hip replacement, the nine concrete-and-stone steps from the gravel drive to the front door were the one barrier to coming home from Cheyenne Regional. We installed the cream-colored outdoor seat on a weather-sealed rail anchored into the stone paving with epoxy-set stainless anchors, positioned so he rides from the walkway to the covered porch in any weather. The sealed motor housing and -30-degree battery with heated charge controller have run through an entire Cheyenne winter — including a -22-degree night with 55 mph gusts — without a service call.

Carpeted stairs in a Western Hills two-story — cold-rated battery for January nights

Western Hills, WY Installed November 2025

A 2004 two-story home off Dell Range Boulevard with 13 carpeted treads and a residential landing that opens to the upstairs hallway. Mr. Andersen, a retired F.E. Warren civilian employee, had knee surgery scheduled for the following month and wanted the lift working before he came home from Cheyenne Regional. We installed the brown-upholstered seat on the carpeted treads with a swivel-exit at the upper landing so he could step onto the hallway carpet instead of the top step. The rail runs along the carpet-covered treads without bunching or pulling. The -30-degree battery was the only Cheyenne-specific upgrade — he tested it during a -18-degree night in January and sent us a text saying it ran like summer.

Platform Lift

Indoor wheelchair platform lift for an F.E. Warren retiree in Western Hills

Western Hills, WY Installed October 2025

MSgt. Patterson, retired from F.E. Warren after 24 years, uses a power wheelchair after a double knee replacement at the Cheyenne VA. His wife also uses a wheelchair. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway with a flat black anti-slip deck and yellow high-visibility safety edges on all sides. The platform folds up against the wall when not in use so the grandchildren still walk the stairs normally. The VA HISA grant covered the full $6,800. Both Pattersons ride the platform daily without needing to transfer out of their chairs — the flat deck accommodates a standard power wheelchair with room to spare.

Common Questions

Everything Cheyenne Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Cheyenne right now?

Straight rails in a standard Cheyenne two-story — the Western Hills subdivisions, newer Ranchettes homes, post-1990 builds along Dell Range — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you will need for the split-level ranches in Fox Farm-College and similar 1960s-1970s homes with a mid-landing turn, run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is custom-manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor installs rated for Cheyenne wind and cold run $4,500 to $8,000 depending on step count and exposure. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, cold-rated battery, and the first service visit.

Why is the Cheyenne price not the same as a Denver quote?

Because a Denver quote does not account for Cheyenne’s operating conditions. Every install we do in Laramie County ships with a -30-degree-rated lithium iron phosphate battery (not the factory default that fails below 14 degrees), an altitude-rated motor cooling profile calibrated for 6,100 feet, and — on outdoor installs — high-wind-rated seat locks and reinforced mounting for 130 mph wind loads. Those are standing upgrades, not options. A company quoting you Denver pricing and shipping factory-default equipment is selling you a service call next January.

Do you charge travel fees for installs outside Cheyenne city limits?

No travel fees anywhere in Laramie County — that includes Fox Farm-College, South Greeley, Ranchettes, Burns, and the rural parcels along I-25 north and south of the city. For installs in Platte County (Wheatland, Guernsey) or Albany County (Laramie), we cover travel as part of the quoted price. You see the number on the quote; it does not change on install day.

My home is in the Capitol North Historic District. Does historic review cost extra?

No. Interior stairlift installs — which is the vast majority of Capitol North jobs — do not trigger historic review at all because the rail bolts into the tread wood, not into the exterior. If the install is exterior-visible (a front porch lift on a contributing structure), we file the Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board application at no charge. We have done this before in Capitol North and South Side and the typical review window is 2 to 4 weeks.

A word from Luis

Cheyenne is a small city with old housing stock and hard weather. Half my calls are from the Capitol North and South Side historic districts — 1905-to-1930 clapboard frame houses where the staircase was built narrow, the treads are original fir, and the homeowner has lived there 40 years. The other half are from F.E. Warren retirees and their families, and from the Ranchettes parcels north of town where the house is newer but the nearest neighbor is a quarter mile away and independence is not optional.

My promise: on-site within 24 hours anywhere in Laramie County, a written quote honored for 30 days, a -30-degree-rated battery on every install because January here is not a suggestion, and the VA HISA paperwork started at your kitchen table if you qualify. Wyoming does not have many stairlift installers. We are the one that shows up.
