Most Cedar Rapids installs wrap in under four hours.

Stairlift Service Across Linn County

Linn County, IA

From the pre-war frame homes in Czech Village and New Bohemia — steep stairs, original oak banisters, basements that function as living space — to the 1950s–1960s split-levels in Northwest and Mound View where the half-flight-plus-landing layout demands a curved rail, Cedar Rapids stair geometry spans a century of construction. Kingston homes rebuilt after the 2008 flood often have GFI-ready outlets and quick-release bracket needs. Marion subdivisions across the Linn County line run newer two-story production builds with standard 14-tread carpeted runs. We also cover Hiawatha, Fairfax, Robins, and Ely — no travel fees, no waiting on a tech from Des Moines.

Mound View two-story — cold-rated battery on dark hardwood stairs

Mound View, IA Installed March 2026

A 1952 two-story on Mound View with dark hardwood stairs and an unheated stairwell that drops below freezing on January nights. The beige seat sits at the bottom of the oak open-tread staircase, the straight rail bolted directly into the hardwood treads on the right side. Mrs. Kowalski, a widow who lives alone, has ridden through one full Iowa winter — including the week it hit -18°F — without a single battery failure or service call.

Curved

Northwest split-level — curved rail bending around the upper landing

Northwest, IA Installed February 2026

A 1965 split-level in the Northwest neighborhood with the classic half-flight-plus-landing layout. The curved rail bends around the half-wall at the upper floor, and the brown-upholstered seat parks at the top landing beside framed family photos. The Jensens' previous company said they'd need two lifts. We digitally scanned the staircase, fabricated one continuous curved rail with a 90° turn, and installed a powered swivel-exit seat. One ride from foyer to bedroom, zero transfers.

Czech Village — straight rail past the sideboard in a 1918 frame home

Czech Village, IA Installed January 2026

A 1918 frame home in Czech Village with stone-tile treads and a wooden sideboard at the base of the stairs topped with a potted plant. Mr. Novak's grandparents brought the newel post design from Bohemia — the banister stays untouched. We bolted a straight rail into the treads only, threading the seat path past the sideboard in the compact, traditional stairway. The cottage feel of the home, with its warm tones and original details, stayed fully intact.

Outdoor

Mound View — outdoor lift on icy stone-paved front porch

Mound View, IA Installed December 2025

A raised-porch home on Mound View with seven exterior steps and rough natural stone paving at the entry. Mrs. Anderson had fallen on the icy porch stairs twice in two winters. We installed a cream weather-resistant seat on an outdoor rail running up the stone-paved porch steps, with sealed motor housing and cold-weather battery rated to -20°F. The carpeted outdoor tread at the bottom step prevents ice buildup at the boarding point. Two full Iowa winters, zero service calls.

Marion — carpeted stairs, installed before knee surgery

Marion, IA Installed November 2025

A 1998 two-story in Marion with 14 carpeted treads and every bedroom on the second floor. The brown-upholstered seat matches the carpet tones, and the rail runs straight up the carpet-covered steps to the landing. Mrs. Larson had knee replacement surgery scheduled at UnityPoint-St. Luke's and wanted the lift working before discharge. Assessed Monday, installed Wednesday, and she rode it from the tiled entry to her upstairs bedroom when she came home the following Tuesday.

Platform Lift

Kingston — indoor wheelchair platform lift for flood-zone home

Kingston, IA Installed October 2025

A flood-rebuilt home in Kingston where Mr. Schmidt uses a wheelchair after a spinal injury and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat black anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and white handrails. He rolls his wheelchair directly onto the platform, rides to the second floor, and rolls off. The orange-toned walls of the rebuilt stairway frame the installation beside a window that overlooks the Cedar River.

Common Questions

Everything Cedar Rapids Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Cedar Rapids right now?

Straight rails in standard Cedar Rapids homes — the Mound View two-stories, the Northwest ranches, the Marion subdivisions — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for split-level layouts with 90° landings (common in the 1960s Northwest and Marion homes) run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and icy entry stairs run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the cold-weather spec cost extra?

No. Our Iowa fleet ships with cold-weather-rated LiFePO4 batteries (certified to -20°F), 72-hour extended backup capacity, and a surge-rated charge module on every install as standard spec. You don't pay extra for the winter upgrade. What you would have paid for with another company — and discovered during the next polar vortex — is already in our standard quote.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every Linn County assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Our home flooded in 2008. Are there special considerations?

Yes — and we know the Cedar Rapids flood history. For homes in the 500-year flood plain along the Cedar River, we install a quick-release seat bracket as standard so the motor can be carried upstairs ahead of rising water. That single $45 bracket saves a $3,000 motor. We also verify that the electrical outlet serving the stairlift is on a GFI circuit — a code requirement in flood-zone homes.

A word from Luis

Most Cedar Rapids families call me after a winter — a parent who slipped on the icy porch steps, a husband who stopped going to the basement workshop because his knees can't take the stairs anymore, a daughter in Des Moines who lost sleep all through the February polar vortex worrying about her mother alone in a two-story on Mound View.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
