Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Monterey County

Monterey County, CA

We install across the village and its sphere of influence. The Golden Rectangle downtown is full of Hugh Comstock storybook cottages with tight, sub-28-inch stair geometries that suit a compact straight rail. Carmel Point, where Scenic Road meets the bay, has 1920s oceanfront homes that need marine-grade outdoor lifts against the salt air. Carmel Woods, the forested high point bordering Pebble Beach, has hillside homes that usually call for a curved rail. Hatton Fields offers larger lots and Spanish Revivals with Saltillo tile treads, while Mission Fields near the Carmel Mission and Carmel Meadows toward Point Lobos round out our coverage. We also serve Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Pebble Beach with no travel fee.

Straight

Golden Rectangle Comstock cottage — straight rail on narrow oak treads

Golden Rectangle, CA Installed April 2026

One of Hugh Comstock's 1920s storybook cottages off Torres Street, with a steep-pitched roofline and narrow oak treads no more than 28 inches across. The family needed a straight lift that hugs the wall tight. We measured the run at just under 14 feet and bolted the rail into the treads in four hours. The beige seat parks at the bottom landing.

Curved

Carmel Woods hillside home — curved rail at the upper landing

Carmel Woods, CA Installed March 2026

A Carmel Woods hillside home with a 90° turn where the staircase wraps a half-wall, with a picture window above the upper landing. The owners wanted the lift to follow the turn cleanly without blocking the view. We laser-measured, custom-bent the curved rail, and installed it in one day. The brown seat parks at the upper landing.

Hatton Fields Spanish Revival — straight rail on Saltillo tile

Hatton Fields, CA Installed February 2026

A 1930s Hatton Fields Spanish Revival with original Saltillo tile treads and a carved wooden sideboard at the base. The tile made for a tricky bolt pattern, so we drilled with masonry bits, six anchors per bracket. Straight 15-foot run, brown seat at the bottom beside the sideboard. Wrapped in under four hours, not a scratch on the tile.

Outdoor

Carmel Point oceanfront porch — marine-grade outdoor lift

Carmel Point, CA Installed May 2026

A Carmel Point oceanfront entry with rough stone paving and year-round salt-air exposure. The owners wanted access from the driveway up to the front door, a rise of about nine feet. We installed a weather-sealed IP55 outdoor rail with marine-grade stainless hardware and a cream seat. The rail runs parallel to a low stone wall, nearly invisible from Scenic Road.

Mission Fields ranch — carpeted straight rail to the bonus room

Mission Fields, CA Installed January 2026

A Mission Fields single-story ranch with a carpeted staircase up to a bonus room over the garage. The carpet was thick-cut tan Berber, so the brown seat blended right in. We ran a 12-foot straight rail with a standard residential motor and tested the battery backup twice. About three hours start to finish.

Platform Lift

Carmel Meadows contemporary — indoor wheelchair platform

Carmel Meadows, CA Installed March 2026

A Carmel Meadows contemporary near Point Lobos where the owner uses a wheelchair full-time and needed indoor access from the entry level to the main living floor. We installed an inclined platform — flat black deck, yellow safety edges, white handrail, 600-lb capacity — gliding up an 18-foot rail along the stair wall. Quiet enough the family's dog sleeps through every trip.

Common Questions

Everything Carmel-by-the-Sea Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding, no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Carmel-by-the-Sea?

Straight stairlifts start at $2,800 installed, curved lifts at $9,000, outdoor lifts at $4,000, and heavy-duty models at $5,050. Every quote includes the assessment, rail, carriage, seat, battery backup, and labor — no hidden charges. Financing is available from $79/month.

Why do curved stairlifts cost more than straight ones in Carmel?

Curved lifts are custom-built. We laser-measure every rise, run, and turn during the in-home visit, then the rail is factory-bent to your exact staircase with no on-site cutting or splicing. Carmel's 1920s landings and tight, irregular turns add fabrication cost, which is why curved lifts start near $9,000.

Does Medicare cover stairlift costs in Carmel-by-the-Sea?

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover residential stairlifts, since they're classified as home modifications rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans include a home-safety allowance worth checking. California's Medi-Cal HCBA Waiver can cover stairlifts for eligible enrollees.

Are there hidden fees when installing a stairlift in Carmel?

No. Quotes are all-inclusive: free assessment, labor, standard battery backup, and permit handling when required. We charge no travel fee to Carmel-by-the-Sea or anywhere on the Monterey Peninsula, including Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach.

A word from Luis

Carmel-by-the-Sea is unlike anywhere else I install in California. The village runs on its own rules — no street numbers, houses known by name instead — and half the homes were built before 1940. Steep roofs, narrow staircases, odd landings. People love these cottages and want to stay in them.

My team has put lifts into Hugh Comstock storybook cottages where the stair is barely 28 inches across, into Hatton Fields Spanish Revivals with Saltillo tile treads, and onto oceanfront porches on Scenic Road where the salt spray off Carmel Bay eats ordinary hardware in two seasons. That's why we run marine-grade stainless on the outdoor lifts here. Call the office and I'll come walk the staircase with you myself — free, and we can usually have the lift in the same week.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

The village of Carmel-by-the-Sea runs on its own rules — no street numbers, houses known by name, and a century of cottage craftsmanship in every roofline. That same independence shapes how families here approach aging in place. Straight rails handle the narrow Comstock staircases, curved rails manage the hillside geometry in Carmel Woods, and marine-grade outdoor lifts stand up to the salt air along Scenic Road.

From a free in-home assessment to a same-week install, we handle the details that matter here, from matching hardware to 1920s tread materials to filing permits when they're needed. Call (800) 965-0350 and Luis will come walk your staircase, whether it's oak, Saltillo tile, carpet, or oceanfront stone.
