Stairlift Service Across DuPage County

DuPage County, IL

From the 1950s brick bungalows on Center Street — original hardwood treads, steep basement stairs, postwar craftsmanship that’s held up for 70 years — to the 1960s split-levels along Jefferson Avenue with mid-landing turns that demand curved rails, our team has measured staircases across every Bensenville block. Church Road ranches have carpeted runs to upper bedrooms. The York Road corridor newer builds have wider treads and open stairwells. Green Street bungalows with finished basements need compact straight rails on narrow stairways. Outdoor installs get freeze-rated lubricant and corrosion-resistant fasteners as standard — a Chicago-area winter requirement, not an option.

1953 Center Street bungalow — straight rail on original hardwood treads

Center Street, IL Installed March 2026

A 1953 brick bungalow on Center Street with 12 original oak treads leading to a finished basement workshop. Mr. Mazur built furniture in that basement for 40 years and refused to give it up after his hip replacement at Elmhurst Hospital. We laser-measured the steep 11-foot run, pre-drilled pilot holes in the dense 70-year-old oak, and bolted the rail flush against the wall side. The seat parks at the top landing out of the doorway. Mr. Mazur rides down to his workbench every morning and rides back up for lunch. His daughter says it added years to his life.

1964 Jefferson Avenue split-level — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Jefferson Avenue, IL Installed February 2026

A 1964 split-level on Jefferson Avenue with five steps from the front entry to the living area, a 90-degree landing, then eight more steps to the bedrooms. Mrs. Restrepo’s mother has lived in this house since 1971 and speaks only Spanish. Two companies said she would need two separate lifts. We laser-scanned the full run on the first visit, fabricated a single curved rail that carries her from the entry to the upper hallway without stopping, and installed a swivel-exit seat so she steps off onto carpet instead of balancing on the top tread. Luis conducted the entire assessment and walkthrough in Spanish. One ride, zero transfers.

Church Road ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs to upper bedrooms

Church Road, IL Installed January 2026

A 1970s ranch on Church Road with 14 carpeted treads to the upper bedrooms and a standard 36-inch-wide staircase. Mrs. Wieczorek hadn’t slept in her own bedroom in four months after a fall on the top step. The rail bolts through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile. The brown-upholstered seat matches the neutral carpet tones and parks at the bottom next to a wooden sideboard. The folded seat and rail take up just 11 inches, leaving 25 inches of clear passage for visiting grandchildren. Mrs. Wieczorek slept upstairs that night.

Green Street bungalow — outdoor lift on icing concrete porch steps

Green Street, IL Installed December 2025

A 1950s brick bungalow on Green Street with a raised front porch and six concrete steps that ice over every November and collect road salt splash from the plows. Mr. Decker slipped on the second step last January and fractured his wrist. We installed a freeze-rated outdoor lift with corrosion-resistant stainless fasteners, lubricant rated to -20°F, an IP55-sealed motor housing, and a weatherproof cover that sheds snow load off the parked seat. The cold-weather battery sits in an insulated compartment. Mr. Decker rides from the sidewalk to the front door without touching a single icy step.

York Road corridor two-story — straight rail with slim-profile track

York Road, IL Installed November 2025

A 1990s two-story in the York Road corridor with a wide open staircase and 13 hardwood treads. Mrs. Sorensen’s Illinois Community Care Program case coordinator documented the stairlift in her service plan, and the Medicaid waiver covered the full cost. The wider treads simplified the install — the slim-profile rail leaves over 28 inches of clear passage for the rest of the family. The seat folds flat against the wall at the bottom landing and the neutral upholstery blends with the foyer’s oak millwork.

Platform Lift

Jefferson Avenue split-level — inclined wheelchair platform lift

Jefferson Avenue, IL Installed October 2025

A split-level on Jefferson Avenue where Mr. Velasco uses a power wheelchair full-time after a work injury. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair between floors. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift along the interior stairway: a flat black anti-slip platform with yellow high-visibility safety edges on all thresholds, white handrails, and a keyed lockout so the children can’t activate it unsupervised. The VA HISA grant through Hines VA Hospital covered $6,800 and the family financed the remainder at 0% APR. Mr. Velasco rolls onto the platform, presses one button, and rides the incline to the upper floor without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Bensenville Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Bensenville, IL right now?

Straight rails in standard Bensenville homes — the Center Street bungalows, the Church Road ranches, the York Road corridor two-stories — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Jefferson Avenue split-level landing turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised concrete porch entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Bensenville prices different from downtown Chicago?

Equipment prices are the same across the Chicagoland metro — we don’t inflate for suburban or urban zip codes. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow pre-war treads in older Center Street bungalows, split-level landing fabrication along Jefferson Avenue, and the freeze-rated lubricant and corrosion-resistant fasteners we spec as standard on every Bensenville outdoor install. Those are baseline, not upcharges. We tell you the line items upfront on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in DuPage County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposit — run $20,000 to $40,000 minimum at current Bensenville prices. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and keeps you in the home you’ve owned for decades, near the doctors you already see at Elmhurst Hospital and the neighbors who check on you. For most Bensenville families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer Spanish-language service?

Yes. Bensenville has a large Spanish-speaking community and every assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request. Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of DuPage County families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

A word from Luis

Bensenville sits right in the O’Hare corridor, and the housing stock reflects it — 1950s brick bungalows on Center Street with original hardwood treads, 1960s split-levels along Jefferson Avenue with those mid-landing turns every curved-rail installer knows, and newer two-stories east of York Road with wider staircases and open floor plans. Most families call after a parent has been sleeping downstairs for weeks.

I drive out within 24 hours, measure once, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
