Stairlift Service Across East Baton Rouge County

East Baton Rouge County, LA

Spanish Town's 1800s shotguns and Creole cottages demand our most careful installs — slim-profile rails threaded past original cypress newel posts without touching historic millwork. Beauregard Town shares that same narrow-staircase challenge. In Southdowns and Bocage, wider mid-century staircases take standard straight rails in three to four hours. The Garden District runs from 1920s bungalows to 1950s brick ranches with split-level entries. Mid City mixes Craftsman cottages, 1940s shotguns, and post-2016 rebuilds on fresh piers. Old South Baton Rouge is where the CCW Medicaid waiver funds our most common installs. Beyond city limits we cover Central, Zachary, Port Allen, and the Shenandoah and Sherwood Forest communities hardest hit by the 2016 flood.

Southdowns raised ranch — straight rail on original cypress hardwood treads

Southdowns, LA Installed March 2026

A 1965 raised ranch in Southdowns with 14 original cypress hardwood treads and a banister the family had refinished just two years before. Mrs. Broussard's daughter called from Dallas after her mother fell on the stairs for the second time in three months. We bolted the slim-profile rail into the tread nosings only, color-matched the rail housing to the dark cypress finish, and added a swivel-exit seat at the top landing. The banister looks exactly as it did before we arrived. Mrs. Broussard was riding it before her daughter's next visit.

1890s Spanish Town shotgun — curved rail past original cypress newel post

Spanish Town, LA Installed January 2026

A shotgun-style home in Spanish Town with a narrow L-turn staircase, original cypress treads, and a hand-carved newel post the family has maintained since the 1890s. A straight rail was impossible — the L-turn at the upper landing is 85 degrees and the newel post occupies exactly the apex. We digitally scanned the staircase during the first consultation, fabricated a swept curved rail with the precise clearance needed, and installed in a single afternoon. The chair swivels 90 degrees at the upper landing so Mr. Thibodeaux steps off onto the hallway floor instead of the top tread.

Garden District bungalow — compact rail beside vintage credenza on tile treads

Garden District, LA Installed October 2025

A 1940s bungalow in the Baton Rouge Garden District with a compact staircase, original stone-tile treads, and a vintage wooden credenza at the bottom landing the family has kept since the house was built. The hallway is narrow and the rail had to clear the credenza and a potted fern without blocking foot traffic. We mounted the slim-profile straight rail tight to the wall side, leaving the furniture exactly where it sat. Sra. Castillo rides it twice daily, and her grandchildren still pass on the open side without squeezing past the seat.

Sherwood Forest raised entry — weather-sealed outdoor rail on flood-rebuilt porch

Sherwood Forest, LA Installed November 2025

A post-2016 rebuild in Sherwood Forest with a raised stone-paved front porch and 12 treated-lumber exterior steps from ground level to the front door. Mr. Hebert is a Marine veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System. We installed a weather-resistant cream-colored outdoor stairlift on the porch steps, with IP55-sealed motor housing rated for Louisiana's subtropical humidity and UV. The stone paving at the top gives him a flat, stable surface to step off onto before reaching the front door. The 96-hour battery backup ran through a 2025 tropical storm outage without interruption.

Bocage colonial — straight rail on carpeted stairs with matched upholstery

Bocage, LA Installed February 2026

A two-story Bocage colonial with 13 carpeted treads and a landing halfway up where the staircase turns toward the master suite. Mrs. Landry was recovering from bilateral knee replacement at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and needed the lift ready before she came home. We chose the brown upholstery option — it blends into the carpet tones so well the lift nearly disappears. The brackets bolt through the carpet into the tread wood beneath, the carpet stays in place, and the tiled floor at the bottom landing gives her a flat, stable surface to stand from the swivel seat.

Platform Lift

Mid City rebuild — indoor wheelchair platform lift for post-flood elevated interior

Mid City, LA Installed December 2025

A Mid City home rebuilt in 2017 after the Great Flood, with an interior stairway connecting the elevated living area to a lower-level den. Mrs. Williams uses a wheelchair after a stroke and cannot transfer to a seated stairlift. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift on the indoor stairway — a flat anti-slip platform with high-visibility yellow safety edges and a white handrail that lets her roll on, ride down, and roll off without leaving her chair. The orange-toned walls of the stairwell stay untouched; the platform folds flat against the wall when not in use so the rest of the family walks the stairs normally.

Common Questions

Everything Baton Rouge Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Baton Rouge right now?

Straight rails in standard East Baton Rouge homes run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails — common in Bocage colonials with upper-landing turns, Spanish Town shotguns with narrow L-turns, and post-2016 rebuilds with stacked half-landings — run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised pier entries run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are prices higher because of Louisiana's raised foundation homes?

Equipment prices are the same as the rest of Louisiana. What varies is the rail length: a raised pier home in Sherwood Forest or Shenandoah might need 16 feet of outdoor rail just to reach the front door, versus 12 feet for a slab-on-grade home in Prairieville. Longer rail means slightly higher cost. We tell you the exact footage and price during the assessment — there are no surprise add-ons for foundation height.

Do you charge extra for Spanish-language service?

No. Every East Baton Rouge assessment can be conducted in Spanish at your request — Luis is bilingual and has walked dozens of families through every line of the paperwork in their preferred language. Every printed quote, consent form, and operating manual is also available in Spanish. Zero surcharge.

Does the price include storm-rated battery backup?

Yes. Every Baton Rouge install ships with an extended-capacity battery that runs 96 hours on a full charge — the longest of any state we serve. After Ida in 2021 produced multi-week outages across southeast Louisiana, we stopped treating extended backup as an add-on and made it the Louisiana default. It is included in the quote price, not listed as an upgrade.

A word from Luis

Most Baton Rouge families call me after something has already happened — a fall on the stairs in a Southdowns raised house, a parent sleeping downstairs for months after a hip replacement, a daughter in Houston worried about her father alone in a Spanish Town shotgun he's lived in since 1978.

My job is simple: get to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
