Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Portage County

Portage County, OH

From the 1870s clapboard farmhouses in the Aurora Center Historic District at the original Cleveland-Warren road crossroads, to the wooded condo enclaves of Walden and the lakeside two-stories of Hawthorne, our crew has measured staircases in every quadrant of this city. Aurora Shores wraps Aurora Lake with 1980s split-foyers and walk-out basements. Bertram villas off Page Road carry first-floor owner suites that simplify retrofits. The 1960s ranches along East Garfield Road and the colonial reproductions on Pioneer Trail round out our regular route — narrow hardwood treads on the older homes, wider open-foyer staircases on the newer builds.

1960s ranch off East Garfield Road — straight rail on hardwood treads

East Garfield Road, OH Installed March 2026

A 1963 ranch off East Garfield Road with 13 original oak treads and a walnut handrail the Donovans have kept since 1988. Mrs. Donovan had been sleeping in the den for two months after knee replacement at University Hospitals Portage. Luis laser-measured the 14-foot run, confirmed the hardwood treads, and installed the same week. The cream-upholstered seat parks at the bottom landing.

Pioneer Trail colonial — curved rail through a 90° landing turn

Pioneer Trail, OH Installed February 2026

A modern colonial on Pioneer Trail with a high-ceilinged two-story foyer, seven steps to a 90-degree landing, then eight more to the upper hallway. Two other companies told the Ellises they needed two separate lifts. Luis laser-scanned the full staircase, fabricated a single curved rail that carries Mr. Ellis from foyer to upper hallway in one continuous ride, and parked the brown seat at the upper landing. One ride, zero transfers.

Walden cottage — straight rail on stone-tile treads with oak sideboard

Walden, OH Installed January 2026

A compact older cottage in Walden with light stone-tile entry treads and a tight 32-inch stairwell. The Kleins kept the original oak sideboard at the landing and asked Luis to thread the rail past it. He mounted a 12-foot rail flush against the brick wall, and the brown seat parks beside the sideboard. Mr. Klein's HISA grant covered most of the cost.

Aurora Shores lakeside home — outdoor lift on walk-out basement steps

Aurora Shores, OH Installed December 2025

An Aurora Shores property on the lake with a walk-out basement and eight flagstone exterior steps that iced over every winter. Mr. Tarleton had already fallen once on the frozen stones. Every component is UV-stabilized, freeze-rated for Northeast Ohio winters, and carries an IP55 seal against rain, snow, and the humidity off Aurora Lake. The cream seat parks at the porch entry.

Hawthorne lakeside two-story — straight rail on carpeted upper run

Hawthorne, OH Installed November 2025

A Hawthorne lakeside two-story with carpeted upper-run treads in warm browns that match the seat upholstery, and a tile floor at the base of the stairs. Mrs. Linden qualified for Ohio PASSPORT through the Portage County Area Agency on Aging, and the calendar-year cap covered the full cost. Luis bolted through the carpet into the wooden treads beneath — no carpet removal, no damage to the pile.

Common Questions

Everything Aurora Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Aurora, OH?

Straight rails in standard Aurora homes — the ranches along East Garfield Road, the colonials near Pioneer Trail, the Walden condos — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails, which you need when your staircase has a landing turn (common in Aurora's two-story colonials), run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your exact staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised front porches and walk-out basements run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Are Aurora prices different from Cleveland or Akron?

Equipment prices are the same across Ohio — we do not inflate or discount based on metro size. What varies slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: narrow treads in Historic District farmhouses, split-foyer landing fabrication in 1980s Aurora Shores homes, and the galvanized coatings we spec on every outdoor install to handle Northeast Ohio's 70-plus annual freeze-thaw cycles. Those are baseline specs, not upcharges. We list every line item on the written quote.

Is a stairlift cheaper than moving to a single-story home?

Moving costs in Portage County — real estate commission, closing costs, packing, new deposits — typically run $20,000 to $40,000 minimum given Aurora's current home values. A straight stairlift installs in under four hours for $2,800 to $5,500 and lets you stay in the home you have lived in for decades, in the neighborhood you know, near your doctors and community. For most Aurora families, the stairlift costs less than the real estate commission alone.

Do you offer financing for Aurora homeowners?

Yes. We offer 12-month interest-free financing and extended terms up to 60 months starting at $79 per month for a standard straight install. Approval takes minutes during the in-home visit. We also help you stack financing with VA HISA, Ohio PASSPORT, or Portage County senior services so you pay the lowest possible out-of-pocket.

A word from Luis

Aurora families call when the staircase stops working for them — a retired teacher in the Historic District who twisted her ankle on the narrow treads of an 1870s farmhouse, a couple in Walden whose husband came home from University Hospitals Portage after hip replacement and the bedroom is upstairs, a daughter in Solon worried about her parents in a raised ranch off East Garfield Road who have not been to the second floor since last winter.

I drive out, measure the staircase, and hand you a written quote honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
