Our Coverage Area

Stairlift Service Across Allegan County

Allegan County, MI

We cover the City of Allegan and the surrounding townships. In the Cutler Street and Hubbard Street historic district, the 1880s Victorians and Colonial Revivals have steep, narrow oak staircases — often a 90-degree turn at the landing that calls for a curved rail. Homes along Trowbridge Street and Water Street near the Old Iron Bridge tend to have straight runs we can fit in an afternoon. Out in Cheshire, Monterey, Trowbridge, and Watson townships, the mid-century ranches and farmhouses take standard straight rails, while newer builds toward Hopkins and Dunningville have wide open staircases. We also serve Otsego, Plainwell, Wayland, and Fennville across Allegan County.

Straight

Cutler Street — straight rail on original oak treads

Cutler Street Historic District, MI Installed March 2026

The Morrisons own an 1887 Victorian on Cutler Street with original oak treads — beautiful but steep after 140 years of wear. The straight staircase runs from the front entry to the second floor with no turn. We bolted a cream straight rail directly to the treads with load-spreading plates, and the seat matches the warm oak of the banister. Three hours, no drywall work.

Downtown historic district — curved rail at the upper landing

Downtown Historic District (near Regent Theatre), MI Installed January 2026

The Petersons' 1895 home in the downtown historic district climbs eight steps, turns 90 degrees at a half-wall, then runs five more to the second floor. We laser-measured the turn during a one-hour visit and the bent rail arrived two weeks later. The brown seat parks at the upper landing and folds tight against the wall. The chandelier above stayed untouched.

Cheshire Township — compact straight rail in a mid-century home

Cheshire Township, MI Installed February 2026

A 1972 split-level out in Cheshire Township — six steps from the entry to the main living area, stone-faced treads with a wooden sideboard at the bottom landing. The brown seat tucks in next to the cabinet when parked. We anchored the rail to the stone treads with masonry bolts, ran power from a nearby outlet, and had the lift running by 11 a.m.

Outdoor

Water Street — weather-sealed porch lift

Water Street (near the Kalamazoo River), MI Installed October 2025

The Hendersons' front porch on Water Street near the river has five stone-paved steps that iced over twice last winter. We installed a cream outdoor stairlift with an IP55 weather-sealed motor and a weather-grade rail. The stainless hardware is set into the stone with epoxy anchors, and a waterproof cover protects the seat when it is not in use.

Trowbridge Street — carpeted-stair straight rail

Trowbridge Street, MI Installed April 2026

A 1950s Cape Cod on Trowbridge Street with carpeted stairs and a tiled floor at the base. The brown seat picks up the warm tones of the beige carpet. We bolted the rail through the carpet into the treads — the fibers close back around the mounts. The swivel seat lets Mr. Nguyen step off onto the tiled landing without twisting. Install was three hours on a Tuesday.

Platform Lift

Hubbard Street — indoor wheelchair platform lift

Hubbard Street, MI Installed May 2025

The Davises' Hubbard Street home has eight steps from the garage entry to the kitchen — a barrier for Mrs. Davis, who uses a power wheelchair. We installed an indoor inclined platform lift with a flat black deck, yellow safety edges, and a white handrail along the wall side. The platform folds up vertically when not in use, leaving the staircase open, and it carries up to 600 lb.

Common Questions

Everything Allegan Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift cost in Allegan?

A straight stairlift begins at $2,800 installed. Custom curved rails start at $9,000, outdoor units at $4,000, and heavy-duty models at $5,050. Every price includes the in-home assessment, the rail, the seat, the install, and a demonstration. We do not charge extra to drive out to Allegan.

Are there hidden costs with a stairlift install in Allegan?

No. The price quoted at the in-home assessment is the final price. The rail is cut or bent to your exact staircase, and labor, hardware, and the walkthrough are all included. A straight rail takes about three hours; a curved rail takes a full day.

How does Allegan pricing compare to Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids?

It is the same. We do not adjust pricing by ZIP code. A straight rail in Allegan costs $2,800 — identical to what you would pay in Plainwell, Otsego, Wayland, or any other West Michigan town we serve.

Do you offer financing for stairlifts in Allegan?

Yes. Financing starts at $79 per month. Terms are reviewed at the assessment with no hard credit pull until you decide to move forward, and most Allegan customers who finance are approved within 24 hours.

A word from Luis

Folks in Allegan know me — I have been fitting stairlifts here for over 15 years. The 1880s Victorians up around Cutler Street and Hubbard Street have beautiful but steep oak staircases, and every one tells you what it needs. On the newer ranches out toward Cheshire and Monterey townships it is usually a straight shot: three hours and the rail is bolted to the treads.

The curved jobs are mostly in the old downtown blocks near the Regent Theatre, where the stairs turn ninety degrees at a half-wall landing. I laser-measure the turn, the rail is bent at our facility, and we install about a week later. The outdoor units earn their keep here — those porch steps along the Kalamazoo River ice up hard in January. If you are not sure what your staircase needs, call me at (800) 965-0350. I will come out, measure, and give you a firm number. No pressure.

Your Next Step

Ready to get started? It's simple.

Allegan sits on a bend of the Kalamazoo River, halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. It is a town where people know their neighbors — and where a staircase should never be the reason someone gives up the upstairs of a home they have lived in for decades.

Whether it is a Victorian near the Old Iron Bridge or a ranch out in Cheshire Township, we show up, measure, and install. No sales pitch — just a rail bolted to the treads, usually working by lunchtime. Call (800) 965-0350 for a free in-home measure.
