Stairlift Service Across Dougherty County

Dougherty County, GA

From the Edward Vason Jones-designed Colonial Revivals of Rawson Circle — where the first question is always "don't touch the banister" — to the 1960s-70s split-level ranches along Westover Boulevard and in Sherwood, where the half-flight from foyer to sunken den is the most common staircase we measure in Albany, our team has mapped every neighborhood in Dougherty County. We know which Albany Historic District homes south of Oglethorpe have narrow pre-1940 staircases with original pine treads requiring compact-profile rails. We know the Radium Springs corridor where elevated entries sometimes need outdoor-rated lifts. And we know which Putney homes along the Flint River had subfloors replaced after the 1994 flood — that determines whether we bolt directly into treads or need backing plates.

Rawson Circle Colonial Revival — straight rail on dark hardwood treads

Rawson Circle, GA Installed March 2026

A 1938 Colonial Revival in the Rawson Circle Garden District with dark oak open-tread stairs and an original Edward Vason Jones-era banister. Mrs. Thornton's daughter drove from Atlanta for the consultation and her first question was whether we'd need to drill into the banister. We bolted the straight rail directly into the hardwood treads on the right side — no contact with the spindles or newel post. The beige seat parks unfolded at the bottom landing. Mrs. Thornton's bridge club meets upstairs again.

Westover split-level — curved rail bends around the upper landing half-wall

Westover, GA Installed February 2026

A 1968 split-level off Westover Boulevard — the most common floor plan in Albany. The staircase curves 90 degrees at the upper landing around a half-wall. Mr. Daniels retired from MCLB Albany after 28 years and his knees no longer handle the daily trips. We fabricated a curved rail that follows the turn, and the brown-upholstered seat parks at the top floor where he steps off onto the hallway. With the chandelier above and framed photos along the stairway wall, the lift blends into the home's character.

Sherwood ranch — compact straight rail next to the den sideboard

Sherwood, GA Installed January 2026

A 1972 ranch in Sherwood with stone-tile treads and a compact, traditional layout — the wooden sideboard and potted plant sit right next to the base of the stairs. We installed a straight rail in this cozy space, positioning the brown-upholstered seat at the bottom landing so it clears the sideboard by five inches when folded. The cottage feel of these older Sherwood homes means every inch counts, and the Pattersons didn't lose any.

Radium Springs raised porch — outdoor lift on natural stone entry steps

Radium Springs, GA Installed December 2025

A 1950s home south of Albany on the road to Radium Springs with a raised front porch and seven exterior steps over rough natural stone paving. Mr. Carter is a Korean War-era veteran who qualified for a HISA grant through the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. The cream-colored weather-resistant seat rides from the stone-paved ground level up to the covered porch. The motor housing carries an IP55 rating for the afternoon thunderstorms that hit Dougherty County from May through September, and every fastener is weather-sealed against southwest Georgia humidity.

South Albany ranch — straight rail on carpeted stairs to the upstairs bedrooms

South Albany, GA Installed November 2025

A 1975 ranch near the MCLB main gate with carpet-covered stairs from the living room to the upstairs bedrooms. The brown upholstery of the seat blends with the brown carpet on the treads — you barely notice it parked at the landing. Sergeant Major Williams retired from the Marine Corps after 30 years and his service-connected knee and back injuries qualified him for the full HISA grant through the Albany VA Outpatient Clinic. The family wrote no check. His wife said he'd been sleeping in the recliner for four months before they called.

Platform Lift

Albany Historic District bungalow — indoor wheelchair platform for a veteran who uses a power chair

Albany Historic District, GA Installed October 2025

A 1935 bungalow in the Albany Historic District south of Oglethorpe Boulevard where Mr. Jackson uses a power wheelchair full-time. A seated stairlift was not an option — he needed to ride his chair onto a flat platform. We installed an inclined wheelchair platform lift with a black anti-slip surface and yellow high-visibility safety edges along the indoor stairway. The white handrail locks into position during the ride. The orange-toned plaster walls and the window on the landing give the space warmth. Mr. Jackson rolls on at the bottom, rides to his bedroom floor, and rolls off without ever leaving his chair.

Common Questions

Everything Albany Homeowners Actually Ask

Straight answers about cost, installation, and funding — no sales fluff. Browse by topic or call us if you have a question that isn't here.

What does a stairlift actually cost in Albany right now?

Straight rails in standard Albany homes — the split-levels along Westover, the Sherwood ranches, the postwar two-stories near Radium Springs — run $2,800 to $5,500 installed. Curved rails for Rawson Circle formal staircases and Albany Historic District homes with narrow turns run $9,000 to $15,000 because the rail is manufactured to your staircase geometry. Outdoor models for raised entries and carport-to-house level changes run $4,000 to $7,500. Every quote is written, honored for 30 days, and includes installation, rail, seat, battery backup, and the first service visit.

Does the HISA grant cover the full cost of a straight rail?

For a service-connected veteran, usually yes. The VA HISA grant pays up to $6,800 — more than enough to cover a standard straight rail at $2,800 to $5,500. The grant goes through the Albany VA Outpatient Clinic or the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. We prefill VA Form 10-0103, the VA provider writes the prescription, and payment goes directly to us. You write no check. For non-service-connected veterans, the HISA cap is $2,000 — typically enough to cover a third to half of a straight rail.

Are prices different in Albany than in Atlanta or Savannah?

Equipment prices are the same across Georgia — we don't inflate quotes for zip code. What can vary slightly is install labor for unusual conditions: shimming rail brackets on flood-damaged subfloors in the Flint River corridor, compact-profile mounts for narrow pre-1940 staircases in the Historic District, or compensating for foundation settlement in older Rawson Circle homes. We tell you the line items upfront. No surprise surcharges.

Do you offer financing if I don't qualify for HISA or EDWP?

Yes — three lending partners with 0% APR for qualified buyers and low fixed-rate plans from $79/month. Application is a soft credit pull (no hit to your score), takes about 4 minutes, and approval is usually instant. Many Albany families combine financing with the IRS medical deduction or a partial HISA grant to bring the monthly payment down further. We walk you through the math during the free assessment — on paper, not a tablet screen you can't read.

A word from Luis

Most Albany families call me after someone has already been sleeping downstairs for weeks — a retired Marine whose knees gave out after 20 years of logistics work at MCLB, a grandmother in Rawson Circle whose children live in Atlanta and just found out she hasn't been upstairs since Thanksgiving, a widow on Westover whose husband handled the stairs for both of them until he couldn't.

My job is simple: drive to your house within 24 hours, measure once, and give you a price that's honored for 30 days. No pressure. No upsells. En español si lo prefiere.
